My first "Err"I went shooting today at Central Park Zoo. I experienced my first real error on my D70. It freaked me out somewhat when it happened, I was reviewing some images, then I think I inadvertently touched the depth of field preview button when I depressed the shutter. It didn't release and gave the Err on the top LCD.
I switched off, and on again. Still 'Err'. Took the battery out, re-inserted and turned it on, still no go... uh oh. Two button reset, still nothing! Panic started to set in. I had previously busted the film advance lever of my film "backup" camera (FM1), and now I was thinking the D70's playing up and I might be without a camera for the remainder of my trip. What to do, what to do... I took off the lens and put it back on. 'Err' still staring back at me. Then, I did something so simple I hadn't thought of doing it earlier - depress the shutter again. It snapped a frame, and the image was recorded on the CF card. Then, it seemed to work as it should again - metering functions back to normal. Not a further problem for the rest of the day. Is this the beginning symptom of an impending shutter failure? I have no Australian warranty on this D70...
Onyx,
Perhaps your cam is homesick!!! No Australia warranty, that's another worry, thought! The symton is exactly what you had describe for shutter failure or its ECB Birddog114
