second hand lenses

i am looking at buying a second hand 70-200 f2.8 usm lens,what things should i be carefull of.what question should i ask the seller.

I just sold one to a friend for $1k flat :)

Marks on glass obviously
Noisy USM motor
Sticky focus/zoom rings
Date code, get the newest one you can
Damage to terminals on bayonet fitting

Thats the obvious stuff :)

Oh, and dont pay more than $1300 for one s/h obviously :)
