Little did I know, three years ago when I started this forum as D70Users.com, solely to arrange a meeting of Sydney based D70 users, what a lively, vibrant, and fun community I would be starting.

That it is so strong is down to you, the members, and the way that you al give, so willingly of your time and resources, in order to help other members here.

I was looking at the membership list last evening ... I looked at the very first page of 50 names .... 20 of whom remain very active here. I think that says more than I am able to express about the strength and quality of what we - of what you - have created.

For those engaging in today's activities - great, let's all share and enjoy, together, in our love of photography, and let's all enjoy our activities today.

Tomorrow's recovery picnic will be at Brighton, in the spot we've used in the past. Just look in the parking lots as you cruise down the Grand Parade for the bunch of partying photographers. As this is also intended to be a swap meet, if you have stuff that you'd like to ... offload .... please bring it along.

Prize winners in the most recent challenge will be announced tonight, and our heartfelt thanks go out to our sponsors, Poon, and Glen. All prizes are in hand, and we'll be in contact with the winners in the next day or so to arrange delivery.

I can't believe it's only been 3 years! It feels much longer than that, and I've forged many meaningful friendships on these forums. I'm glad to be here, to watch it grow, transform and continue to evolve not just as a forum or website, but as a community where people are more transparent that most online communities.

It's just over 12 months ago that I came across this site whilst researching for a lens...wish I had found it sooner.

I have really enjoyed going to meets, checking out all the posts and especially meeting fellow members.

The advice has been great and of immense help. The participation has been fun. The forum is an addiction. It has also opened many doors for many of members.

Thanks to all involved - newbies, members, KMs, moderators and of course Poon for his continuing support. And no I haven't forgotten my old boss from all those many years ago - I certainly have enjoyed photography again since we caught up with each other again.

Hope everyone enjoys the AW whatever you have chosen to do this weekend - I am, just had a fun day on the Ferry Hop (timetables aside)

What a weekend ....

First of all, contgratulations to Steve and Simon for their efforts on the challenge, and thank you to Poon, Glen and Scott for their support.

Steve, thanx for joining us at the recovery picnic this afternoon, it was great to catch up with you again, and my pleasure to be able to hand over to you your lighting kit. We hope that you get years of service and enjoyment from this; I'm confident that you will.

Everyone who joined us, both physicaly, and in spirit - thank you for your efforts.

Especially those of you who participated in one of our events.

The portraiture workshop was, IMHO, the best one ever, with thanx for that due to Geoff for locating Benedicta - who is a most amazing lady, Benedicta herself, Geoff for permitting us the use of his background, Poon for supplying us with the lighting on the day, Patrick for the loan of his lighting as well, Christina for the use of the room .... and each of the attendees, for their attendance, attention and good humour throughout what was a busy, but very productive, day.

The efforts are posted elsewhere, and they are most impressive. Let me assure you that as good as they may look on-line, the prints I've seen from the day are simply awesome!

Stubbsy - a big thank you to you for organising the ferry hop. It was well attended, and the images I'm seeing from this are, again, spectacular. Great stuff.

Glen, your support leading up to the dinner - and your help in actually organising this - is greatly appreciated by all who attended. From what I saw, everyone had a great night, with the stragglers closing the restaurant down (and continuing on to a pub) at 23:45.

And that's in addition to your support for the challenge, and your provision of a keylight to each person at the dinner. Well done, and on behalf of everyone present, thank you.

Poon, of course, supplied the major prize for the Challenge. Steve was surprised when we called him (during the dinner) to let him know, but Poon's influences and generosity went far beyond the mere provision of a prize. Remotes, batteries, screen protectors, flash diffusers ....

Poon, on behalf of all members, thank you again for your kindness, your support, and most importantly, your friendship. You are truly a man of value, and you are valued very highly amongst us, your friends.

If I've forgotten anyone in this, my apologies: I'm tired, it's been a great weekend, and I still have two radio shows to prepare.
