Made the short list

Postby Matt. K on Tue Aug 07, 2007 10:02 pm

I entered 2 digital photographs in the SYDNEY LIFE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION which is an annual event and 1 of them has been chosen for the exhibition. There were over 600 entries and 26 were selected. Each entry wins $400 and a finalist will be chosen for the first prize of $10,000. I am not very confident because my image lacked the technical quality I personally demand. But then there's no accounting for taste. The images will be printed approx 1.5 metres on canvas, and displayed for three weeks in Hyde Park in October. The winner will be anounced on the 5th of October at the launch at Customs House. If I can win this stuff then any of you can and I urge you all to enter every competition possible. I see stuff of the required standard posted here all of the time so go for it.
Regards

Congrats Matt,

I think you are being too modest. I do agree with you that a number of members here should submit their photos in various comps.

Well done,

Let me echo it one more time - good onya Matt.

And yes, I do agree members here should enter more competitions. You have a better chance of winning one than winning the lotto, so everyone should seek out photo comps and give it a go.

Well done Matt. However i feel your style of photography is very well suited to the theme of the competition, so it's no surprise to me you were short listed.

I'd love to see the image selected.
Steve.

Thanks all!
I'm going to keep the image under wraps until the day,. Suffice to say it was chosen to match the exhibition criteria and was not my preferred image....but you gotta read the rules and please the judges. That's rule number 1. Unfortunately there's a downside.....I have to attend a cocktail party...nibble cheese and look cool. I'm doomed. :D
