New Toys......& test pixs

Postby big pix on Sun Aug 12, 2007 8:45 pm

120-300mm Sigma 2.8 lens......and 2x TC and 1.4 TC delivered this afternoon by a friend down my way..... The lens arrived too late to test in daylight, but put on the D2Xs just for a quick look, and it is fast to focus, I would say it is quicker than the Bigma. Also had a quick play with the 2x TC and the focus is also very quick but at 5.6 through the range.......

....... I guess it is early to bed and early to rise so I can go and play......

....... must be, as I waited 7 weeks for the beast..... I thought the Bigma was heavy, I will need a porter for this one, or a trolley.....

Best get a porter as you'd need one of those anyway to carry the trolley :)

Enjoy your new toys.

2 quick test shoots today..... Steve I lied.....

The build quality of this lens is very good, very different to the Bigma and much heavier. I have only tested the lens with the 2 X TC as this is the way it will be used most........ I found shooting in low light areas to be very good because of the much faster glass even with the TC.....both these shots were hand held but will improve in quality with the use of a mono or tripod....

This shot lacks DOF as it was shot wide open, would be better if stopped down even one stop. Full frame image

Suffers from camera movement when looking at the raw files. cropped to about 50% of original should read 600mm
