more loneliness...a seriesMore in my series of dark lonely landscapes. While you all bath in the sun, we in the Northern Hemisphere (Pacific North West)look out our windows and see:
I'd love to hear your comments as I've never taken any pics like this before. I woke up, looked out the back window and thought, now that's a happy site. I actually find it strangely beautiful.
Dave... that is absolutely wonderful... i like it alot...

Dave look out the window more often so we can share in these tranquil moments of the Pacific North West - superb

Hey Dooda. Nice to see a different approach.. the 'less is more' kind of thing.
I wonder what the image would look like if you cloned out that little spec of rock or whatever it is on the right of middle... I kinda find that a little distracting. A great picture however, since this is part of a series I'm going to see if I can find any others in it.
Thanks all,
Owen, I flirted with cloning it out (I cloned out an entire town earlier on a landscape, I can still hear their screams) but decided not to...don't know why, as I'll usually try anything and then just undo. Looking at it now, I think you're maybe right. There is also a boat towards the top that you can't quite see in this smaller version.
Dooda. Exellent shot and I'd like it better with the spec cloned out. Wouldn't worry about the boat on the horizon though.
Is the colour how it looked or did you play with WB or PP it somehow? Peter

That seems so serene and peaceful, also surreal, almost dream-like...
I'd definately try cloning out the small speck/rock on the right hand-side, making the rock(?) on the left the lone subject in vast emptyness... Love the colors too... Cheers, Mudder Aka Andrew
I took three shots. This one sort of had the most surreal bluish hue to it so I chose it. This is as close to what I saw as I could get it. I darkened the sky ever so slightly and lightened the water slightly so that they blend together a little. Then I darkened the whole thing a tad for gloominess. If anything it's slightly darker than what it really was. I usually use auto -1 or -2 WB.
Actually I was house sitting for some friends that have a house on the water. My whole stay was like this picture, at night with a fire, reading a book, hearing waves etc.
Beautiful sense of calmness to the picture. I found the speck of rock to be good, my eye hit the forefround rock, then zig zagged to the small speck, then moved to the horizon and found the boat on the horizon. I think it helps give a sense of depth.

Yeh, I did consider getting rid of it, but thought it created depth just as you said. Although in getting depth it sort of takes some of the extreme serenity out of it. I think I'll probably print this pic and clone it out as the serenity isreally what I was going for.
