Wow, look at the collection of cards you got there Craig!

RedBubble seems to be a great creative community with an emphasis on the artistic side of things, in contrast to Progalleries - which offers a similar service of selling prints that appeals more to wedding and events photographers.

Coming from the team at Horsham I would expect there to be no quality issues. They are very good. I'm using them more and more and have a "PRO" friend who has been with them for 17 years. They really know what they are doing.

Craig they look great

Macka just PM me your address and I'll add you to the list  , the Canvas was a good price $110 (as I was getting stock price without mark up), with my mark up it's a bit above the price of some of the shops ($165) I've seen, but the quality is far better then anything I've seen in HN, CH and other chains.

My dilemma is I'm selling more cards then prints, so I have my mark up aimed more at the cards not the big prints. That said I wouldn't feel ripped off buying this quality work for $165 as it's top notch.

Shane - I haven't ordered any T-Shirts yet, so I'm not sure the quality, on the RB forums I have seen a few shots of people wearing there shirts, but I find seeing it in the flesh is the only true way to test the quality.

The shirt quality is very good but make sure you order one size too big to allow for shrinkage (of the shirt :) )

A reminder: the Redbubble Real Photography Competitoin closes for entries today (Friday 24th).

I've placed an entry into every category (well... one more photo to upload then that statement will be correct). I'm finding that there's considerable overlap in a couple of Categories, so I'm trying to figure out whether my B&W self-portait would go better in 'fashion, portrait and commercial' or 'black and white, street and reportage'. Decisions, decisions.

... anyway, good luck to all who enter!

I have a question regarding the photo dimensions required.

RB FAQ wrote:Small wall art print: about 1600×2400 pixels (4 megapixels)
Medium wall art print: about 2160×3240 pixels (7 megapixels)
Large wall art print: about 2560×3840 pixels (10 megapixels)

Note that if your image size or format is not right, this might restrict you from selling some products. We automatically determine which products your file can be used to create, so that we only ship products that both you and we can be proud of.

Can I use 6MP pics from my D70 for medium and large prints?

What if I upsize them in photoshop?

Hi Guys

It's a good site

http://www.redbubble.com/people/kriskeen

Last week I sold $180 in prints, a mounted and framed print, profit for me was $62.50. Previous to that a few cards, but nothing else major. I was lucky enough to win the runner up prize for the US comp a while ago (same competition in which Craig won the camera) and got a $100 voucher. Today I've ordered my bike rider shot on Canvas, medium so ill post a photo once it arrives.

I'm pretty happy so far! Naturally I wish more sales but oh well

Cheers
Kris

Brad you can resize them some shots will resize better then others, I have some that I make only available as Small, to keep the quality level high, but there are a few images I've that I've printed that have been resized and have come out great.

Decided to splash out and buy some cards (some from others, some of mine to check out the quality) - very impressive, but I've now gone back and started to remove all white borders from my works because I'm not sure they're properly aligned when printed (not angled.... just cropped). Has anybody had this experience?

BT*ist - There is some bleeding on the cards, it means that some of the edges don't line up exactly (only with the cards) the rest of the products show up exactly as shown. There is further discussion on the forums re this is your interested in more info.

Thanks for that - will check it out! Anyway, I thought the quality was excellent - very impressive. It also made me think about the kind of images I want to post on the site that make best use of cards...

I've done a fair bit of self promotion Brad, but I've been making fairly regular sales, with the occasional decent one. Roughly I'd say I've made between $150 and $200 dollars, and I've got fairly low markup on my art.

I dont think anyone is likely to make their fortune on Redbubble.

I have a cheque for $7.40 at home (I still havent cashed it) - sales have been very slow for me. There has been an absolute boom in membership and artworks uploaded on the site , so my stuff (little fish) seems to have been swallowed up in the big pond.

I think the promotional aspect that Craig talks about is very important, but I am lazy. Plus the fact that Craig's stuff is awesome also helps.

Im just happy to use the site as an online portfolio to show off what I can do, and also make the stuff available for sale. If I make any $$ on the side from sales then that is also cool.

30-50% so not that low, but I based mine mark upon card sales as I sell them more often the the larger items. I basically rate my images into three teirs and my best shots get 50%, the ones that aren't quiet in the best mob are 40% and the ones that are experimental, or less likely to see I have at 30%.

I don't think there is, but you should have been sent an email detailing how much you made when the sale was made.

It's prob best to add that up. or alternatively you can check the activity monitor.
