Have I saved it?Grabbed this very ordinary shot of my long suffering partner in crime.
Thought I would have a go at saving it and ended up with this. Have I succeeded or should I bin it? JED

Its certainly a big improvement without the distractions -I like the overall colour tone and crop , much more flattering.
Think it would benefit from more work along the profile edge as the face/shirt colour(sepia) has smudged/blured into the background (black) especially at the shoulder line and looses that nice edge. To Overcome this try removing all of the background and replacing with a separate layer of smokey gradient black - then slightly soften or blur forground layer edge before merging layers , this should give a cleaner profile edge. Its a keeper, has a nice sultry serious feel. Deb T
Actually, I'd bin what you've done to the image, and keep the original. I like it the way it was shot, and I think the PP has killed the image.

Thanks very much for the comments. Gives me more food for thought.
Not being convinced of the value of the original image, Gary, I am a bit surprised by your vote for it. This does, however, encourage me to view it more objectively than subjectively, which is good, as being close to the subject can cloud one's view, I suspect. Thanks again. Cheers, John D JED

John - if you are familiar with a program called ”Poser” you will understand when I say that this looks like a compiled 3-D image. But, I do like it

Thanks Chris. I don't know that program. I'll check it out. JED

I like the PPd image but I'm not sure why. It has a style and for me it is definitely worth keeping. Would look good in a small frame. There's just no accounting for individual tastes!

Thanks Matt. It sure would be a boring world if we all had the same tastes.
