Self-adhesive inkjet papersHi,
I'm looking for some self-adhesive inkjet paper. It will be put on craftwood. It needs to be photo paper, matte or gloss. Any experiences with this type of paper and which one works would be much appreciated. The surface it will be put on is likely to be craft wood. I would be printing on an Epson R2400 so roll paper is an option. I found some in the Epson US site, their photo quality self-adhesive, but can't see it here in Australia. Before ordering some, I'd like to hear of any experiences with any photo-quality self-adhsive paper. thanks, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Last time I did something like this, I used Spray glue.
It's an aerosol type spray and the brand I got from the local stationary shop was very good. (cant remember brand-sorry) I also used the glue for revenge and sprayed the handpeice of a co-workers phone at work. It stuck to her ear, so it pretty good glue. (yes the boss knows and he nearly wet himself laughing.) I guess some other glues would be good for this task too. Nunquam requîrere a aptus occãsiõ ad claudere sûrsum
this ebay seller in Melbourne
has 200 sheets 4"x6" self adhesive matt photo paper for $15 also has gloss paper... maybe you should contact him to see if he has larger sizes http://stores.ebay.com.au/ResolutionMax
My only concern about buying this sort of stuff from ebay would be the actual quality of the paper.
One of the things I've observed is that to get good and consistent quality output, you need to be using good quality paper and inks - in the R1800 that means Ilford or Epson paper and Epson inks only. If you're wanting to print photos, I think this should be a concern that needs to be addressed. If you're printing fridge magnets or something less critical ... probably not as much of a concern. g.

Thanks for all the info/comments.
Here is what I have found so far: -local OfficeWorks didn't have any proper self-adhesive paper, all they had was a 3M product photo paper with the adhesive like a post-it note. -local craft shop didn't have any. -contacted Giclée Media Supplies. They had some paper like I wanted but the rolls were for much larger format printers then mine. They were very quick to respond to my query. They also carry lots of different papers, worth a look at: http://gicleemedia.com.au/ -as Gary mentioned, not sure on the ebay suppliers but I'll send them a query if they have larger stock. -I had also initially thought of using some type of glue but would prefer self-adhesive paper but it may come to glue if I can't find the paper. I'll keep looking and report back anything I find. I have some generic officeworks brand paper (4 x 6) that I have not tried yet.
I also have some A4 adhesive paper, branded AusInc Stationery that I believe I purchased at Officeworks as well (although I couldnt find it the last time I looked). This was acceptable for adding wedding photos to thank you cards, but not what I would call exceptionally high quality (similar in quality to the officeworks generic paper although the ink appeared to dry quicker on this paper). Andre,
How much of this type of stuff will you need to print? One of my suppliers prints onto self adhesive vinyl using a Soljet printer. The roll is 1300mm wide and produces excellent results. Maybe you would like to explore this track? He can offer fast turnaround and a product which is also suitable for outdoor application if necessary...... Tony All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
Thanks for that info Tony,
from the papers I have found around the place, they do seem to have what I want but in large format printers. I will be approaching my local pro lab here in Newcastle. I get along with him pretty good as I used to work with him a while back. Then I'll be able to decide if what I want is worth the cost/work/etc. Cheers, André Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution. Hi,
I queried the ebay seller that Firsty mentioned if he had A4 self-adhesive, he did for $25 for a box of 120 sheets. I've ordered a box to see how it performs. It doesn't show up as a paper when looking at the papers he has available but if you search for it, it finds it. Link to the item is here. I'll report back when I get to try it. Sounds too cheap to be good, but at the same time it's cheap enough to not be expenditure of any concern. Good luck, and please do post your impressions. g.
