MH-18 and MH-18aJust a quick question about the chargers MH-18 and MH-18a, Other than size is there any thing different im guessing they both can charge my EN-EL3e batteries???
I don't think the MH-18 can as I believe the e batteries have an extra bit which transmits the battery info to the camera. I think the EN-EL3 batteries can be charged on the MH-18A but not vice versa.
Nikon D7000
They both charge both batteries.
The extra pin on the 'e' is only for the camera to read the charge information, the charger still only has two pins for charging. I use both chargers equally for all of the batteries I have whether EN-EL3 or EN-EL3e.
agreed. i have 2 or 3 of these and they all charge the e or non e types equally well. body: nikon d200, d70s, f4s, f601.

Thanks for the feedback, I thought that was the case as there was a recall on the EN-EL3 that came with the D70, D100 and i think the D50 and from what i was told (Not 100% on this) they where ether replacing them with EN-EL3a or EN-EL3e (i sort of wish my old one that came with my D70 was one of them and that would of given me 3 to use with my D200!)
Marvin they both have the same pin contacts there just not the same size
i'm a little confused at what you said, so i might just clarify el-en3 - d70 battery / m18 - d70 charger el-en3e - d200 battery /m18a - d200 charger you can charge batteries on anything you want. you can mix and match as much as you like. does not matter at all you can use d200 batteries in a d70 no worries. you cant use d70 batteries in a d200. basically the d200 batteries are backwards compatible, but the d70 batteries are not. you can still charge them with either charger though. body: nikon d200, d70s, f4s, f601.
