Embedded images in threads

Newer members often state that they think their question is too basic, or stupid, or whatever, to be posted. Nothing could be further further from the truth in any section at DSLRUsers.com, but especially here. Don't feel intimidated. The only stupid question is the one that remains unasked. We were all beginners at one stage, and even the most experienced amongst us will admit to learning new stuff on a daily basis. Ask away! Please also refer to the forum rules and the portal page

Embedded images in threads

Postby mudder on Sat Feb 12, 2005 5:58 pm

G'day,
OK, my hand's up for a really dumb question...

When embedding an image in a thread, does the image data actually get pasted into the thread or is it just a transparent link to the originating address... By that I mean, if an image is embedded and later removed from the originating web address, does that screw up the image previously embedded? Strewth, I hope you know what I mean...

An embarrassed Mudder

Mudder - if you post a pic on pixspot then embed it in a thread on this forum the removal of the pic on pixspot will leave a little box on the thread without a pic. So I would guess it is linked to the original

I think I know what you mean Mudder. Go to this thread:

http://forum.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=1600

which was a pic that was hosted on pixspot before it died and I never got around to putting it back when pixspot was fixed. You'll just see the red X but if you right click on it and go to properties, it shows the original address. Hope that helps.

John.
