Image corruption on D2Xs + Sandisk 4G card

Postby DanielA on Sun Oct 07, 2007 6:23 pm

I have had 3 occasions now when I have got corrupted images. This is using my fairly new D2Xs with a SanDisk Extreme III 4GB card.

The thing is I've shot about 3500 shots with the combination but only had 3 cases. They have all been on JPEGs, not the NEFs I've taken. The bottom 1/4 of the image is unreadable. I think the D2Xs can actually read the file OK, as in one case I could view and zoom in on the image in the camera still. But when read by my (Lexar) CF card reader or Hyperdrive the image was corrupted.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

I did have similar trouble once with the D70 and a SanDisk Extreme II 1GB card, but that appeared to be the ageing CF card.
I'll probably get a new CF card and keep an eye on it, but it appears so rarely it is hard to test.

Thanks

Daniel

Yes, it looks like I should. Hopefully it'll magically go away with a new card. :?
Thanks

Had similar on a Sandisk Extreme III as well. It didnt go away :( Did finally find out it wasn't a genuine card! (And bought thru a camera store!! Bas^%rds!!)..

I run all Extreme III/ IV 4 gig Sandisk now and no issues, surprised to hear of yours. (Have you confirmed its a genuine?)

If your deciding to buy more thru Centre.net.au they are on backorder currently.... (As usual).. Waiting on 2 at moment.

It appears genuine, and it was purchased through Centre.net.au back in march.

That seems quite common. OK, Thanks

Photographic Wholesalers in Hutt St, have heaps of the extreme III 4 Gig.

I bought 2 more today ($7 cheaper than Centre net if you take postage into the equation!).

Cancelled my order with Centre net and offered my observations as a customer, to them of the non contact policy they seem to have on keeping clients informed of whats avaliable and whats not. :(

That's what I've seen shooting raw on my D70 using the old 1G card.

Thanks. Looks like I'll be heading to Photo Wholesalers soon. They do have some good prices sometimes.
