Has anyone had any experence with the above hard drive enclosure, or can direct me to more information other than the below link....... thanks

It's a neat little unit for disk mirroring. You could of course also buy the bare enclosure and then purchase disks separately. The 750GB and 1TB drives should be getting cheaper soon.

Bernie, don't have one myself but the 2TB box Moz was talking about before is available for $899 at Harriss Technology. Sort of blows the claims of the powermac people out of the water who claim " the most cost effective solution available today" with 1TB for $1,099.

I'd definitely stay away from RAID 0 if you care about data loss. I'll use one for speed, but definitely not for medium to long term storage.

Bernie the 2TB has Raid 1, is hot swap worth much without Raid 5 or higher?

Glen.... I have a 1tb I purchased about 2 months ago and it is almost full. I need to access the images on a regular basis.

With hot swap, I will have 2 or 3 sets of drives and change each pair as needed...... and able to add drives to this system with a minium of cost

Smart thinking Bernie, keeps the expenses down and you are definitely using the capacity. I was guessing the hot swapping would be used for rebuilding a drive, which neither of these units support.

Super functionality under RAID 1, - if a drive fails then the auto alarm will sound, simply use the hot swap caddy to insert a new drive. Auto configure will automatically rebuild your backup.

realy all you should need if saving in pairs so you have 2 copies of everything
