fancy neckstraps ?
i just remembered that back when i first got my camera something i wanted was a trendier neck strap.
guitar straps come in a whole bunch of designs shouldnt camera straps? anyone have any idea about this? cheers
I've never really thought about it to tell you the truth...
I don't think that it would be something that I would purchase though cause it would make the camera look a bit cheap maybe... The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but it's still on the list...
Many lf us have the D70Users.com neckstraps, but they're no longer available.
I was looking at getting some DSLRUsers.com ones, but the cost/numbers were prohibitive. g.

I don't know about "trendier", but I know I always swap out my standard Nikon straps for the neoprene Op/Tech straps (same as the old d70users straps) for comfort reasons
Not sure why you might want to personalise your camera strap - traditionally the photographer isn't the centre of attention like a rockstar on stage would be! But there are plenty of alternative straps on the market, so you should be able to get something different at least
+ 1 for Op/Tech strap, so comfy!
i also go the clips that go on the shoulder straps of my camera backpack so i dont have to use the neck strap, v-handy when walking about with the backpack and the camera in front of you.
That's what I do. $20 for a strap that's significantly more comfortable than the sharp-edged things that come with the camera seems like a bargain to me. I'm happy with plain black or whatever is cheapest. There's a small benefit is having quick-release clips on them too, especially when I managed to get the strap caught under the wheel of a moving vehicle... the clip broke just in time for me to get the camera out of the way. http://www.moz.net.nz

I'd never given this a thought but on holiday recently I found the standard Nikon strap caused melots of discomfort. I thought it was sunburn on my neck originally.

I used to play the guitar until I broke a finger. I used 1 of my guitar straps years ago on 1 of my film bodies.
It was more comfortable than the original strap, but I had it adjusted to its shortest legnth & wished it was a little shorter. If you find a nice strap, i didnt find it to hard to modify the ends for use, so go for it. - you'll always know which is you camera Nunquam requîrere a aptus occãsiõ ad claudere sûrsum
I saw some of those very very hippy trendy straps on EBay (US) a few months ago, you know the ones. They look like guitar straps and about 2 inches wide. I think they were new, so someone out there makes them.
I have doubts about the cheaper neoprene ones, but I know there are some good ones out there with steel wire through them, just in case... 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Saw a wedding photog who had his website embroidered onto his neck strap.
Fantastic idea I reckon. Everyone is looking at him at some stage and will remember how to contact him......  All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
Do you really think so? I'm not so sure, unless it was a really catchy name. Business cards would be a far better idea, and would eliminate any doubt that might arise from faulty memory. g.

Fozzie's post got me thinking - I had a supply of straps too for Melbourne members, sold
most of them but I have two left!!!!! Same price as foz, $30 + shipping. Genuine Op/tech Pro Loop Straps bearing the now defunct "D70 users.com" logo (Would really spruce up a Canon )

No he's not the centre of attention, nor should he be. But what betterplace to advertise to his next customer than where he is working.... I don't have mine embroidered by the way...... All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
You'll get absolutely no argument from me regards to the business cards, they are without doubt the most convenient and effective manner to pass a phone number to a potential or existing client..... All I know, is that I don't know enough.....
You can always get stickers or fabrics printed out and stick/stitch them to your neckstrap if you really want something on it...
I got both Lowepro and Op/Tech strap, the Op/Tech is by far better because it is wide and comfy (the lowepro is not bad, but not as good). I have seen another pro the other day, he has an "AirCell" strap, it looks very wide and with lots of thick padding. It does look very comfortable in spreading the weight, but not sure how it feels compared to the optech ones...
