EOI - 2007 Defence Air Show - RAAF Base Edinburgh, Adelaide

Postby fozzie on Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:15 am

On either the 27th or 28th October 2007.

http://www.defence.gov.au/raaf/airshow/

What's on:

* plenty of Navy, Army and Air Force aircraft on the ground and in the air - F-111s, Hornets, Orions, Hercules, the big new C-17 Globemaster and more
* Navy and Army Black Hawk, Seahawk, Sea King, Squirrel and Tiger helicopters
* US Navy fighters (tbc)
* historic warbirds
* civilian sports aircraft
* static displays, entertainment, bands and lots more.

* Gates open 8am-6pm
* Flying displays 12-3:30pm
* Same great show both days

* Adults $15
* Youths 6-16 $5
* Children under 6 free
* Tickets at the door (tbc).

Parking is free. Public transport from regional shopping centres will be available.

There is more information to be gleamed from the website, I have just extracted some of the information.

Once we have consolidated which day (Same great show both days), I will arrange for the 'Mini Meet' to be added to the calendar on the front page, with a link to this thread.

So please post a thread, only if you are interested and on which day, majority rules. After that, at time and meeting place will be set.

Either will work. At 12 - 3 timeslot, we will be shooting into the sun from the flightline, on the other day I might go and sit on the other side of the road and shoot back towards the hills, that way sun will not be a problem. The globemaster is a huge plane, it used to come to Woomera a few times per year - it is an absolute monster.

Gary Stark will be adding this to the Calendar on the front page sometime today, with a link to this thread.

So Sunday 28 October, 2007 will be the Adelaide Mini Meet. Main Program runs from noon to 4pm and suggest meeting at 11am. Meeting place will be advised later. This will be conveyed by PM for safety sake, together with my mobile number. So it is important to mention on this thread that you are coming.

Edit:

So far we have coming:

aussichef
DebT - apology: unable to attend
DanielA
BBJ
Big
TassieD - going early (8am) and will meet up sometime

I might be able to make it, I have to decide between shooting the Kuitpo forest rally (tarmac stages) or the airshow.

Why are there always multiple things on the same weekend :roll:

Special AIR Show Offer
Tenix, Lockheed-Martin and L3 have generously offered sponsorship for some aspects of the Edinburgh Air Show. This has allowed us to provide a large marquee with all the trimmings of a Corporate facility. The marquee will known as 'The Flight Deck" and will be positioned next to the VIP marquee either on the hardstand at the western end of the engine run-up area or on the grass alongside.

The Air Show caterer has offered a buffet meal in this facility for $25 per head; there are no concessions. The menu is below. The caterer is Encore which is based at AAMI Stadium. Their product is good. Wine and beer will be available with the meal on a pay-as-you-go basis.

130 places are on offer each day to anyone interested in purchasing a meal in this Corporate marquee. This would be your place for the day to come and go as you please. Tables will be in various sizes. The limit will be four tickets per individual in the first instance. The offer is open primarily to adults but children over 10 will be accepted. As the offer is expected to be popular, we will accept the first 130 requests received.

Daniel - according to the website, the options are:

You can buy tickets from Ticketek or at the gate.

I am purchasing mine and 'BBJ' from an Ticketek agent near work, sometime this week . Saves the hassle on the day. If you are interested drop me a PM and fix me up on the day.

Saturday was fairly unpleasant weather wise.

Overcast and light winds early on then mid afternoon.. just when all the fun stuff was due to come on up came gale force winds and wicked sandstorms.

A few spots of rain to boot.. very nasty conditions.
Forecast is for strong winds today also

I went Saturday, I am too cheap to pay, so I parked on Angle Vale Road and took some photos. I found it a little slow - in that there was quite a few breaks between things happening. Well that is what I felt.

A few select photos below
