Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Battle of Birsaba 90th Anniversary Parade

I Was invited to shoot the Battle of Birsaba 90th Anniversary Parade in Adelaide over the weekend, as a purely military affair made for quite an interesting shoot, that and the fact that it was absolutley pissing down or overcast for some/most of it.

Pretty much the gist of the day was for the current members of the 3/9th Light Horse to get together and pay tribute to memory of their comrades involved in the 1917 action. The offical parade was followed by a regimental dinner that evening.

Image
The commandant of the Land Warfare Centre (South Australia) addresses the assembled troops and dignatries.

Image
The Officer Commanding (3/9th), Colonel Mcarthy saluting the arrival of dignatries at the parade ground, Col. Mcarthy was also awarded the Long Service Medal for service to his regiment .

Image
The musical support for the day.

Image
The reenactment of the battle gets underway with the men of the Barossa Light Horse leading the charge.

All the photos were taken withe either a D2x and Sigma 15-30 or a D200 with Sigme 70-200 attached.

Interesting images of the day with good light from the overcast day. Looks like a good day was had by all. I have a lot of photo's from the original Beersheba charge among my stuff on my website and they are always of interest to the folk who see them.
By the way, if you have contact with the 3/9th regiment, I would like to talk to them as I have a lot of original photo's of their regiment from the First World War and they are to be passed on to a suitable historical institution preferably one that is attached to the regiment. If so, could you PM me and give me some contact details for them.

I'm sorry but I had to laugh when I saw these shots. They immediately reminded me of the opening title of Black Adder 4
