MB-D200 and Battery cover

Postby Technik on Fri Nov 09, 2007 2:32 pm

Hi everyone

I just bought a 2nd hand MB-D200 battery grip and a D200 body, it doesn't come with any instructions.

Does anyone know how to take out the battery cover from the body?

If I recall correctly open the door to about 45 degrees and then you should be able to pull it out (I've only done it once). You can then store it in the battery grip (the bit that slides up into the body).

exactly that!

The battery door slides into the stalk of the grip (from the contacts end).

thanks guys! the D200 along with the battery grip feels so much heavier than my old D70s...

I've installed my MB-D200 now and quite like the feel of the camera now. It compares favourably with my D2X.

The only complaint I now have is that I have to move my right hand from the grip to utilise the rocker switch on the back of the camera when shooting portrait style.

I find this is a real inconvenience if I'm constantly changing the focal point within the frame. :(

Well, you can hold the AF-ON button and scroll on the vertical grip to change focal points, can't you? ;)

Its a bit to get used to, but not too hard...

Similar procedure to taking the door off the SB800 to install the 5th battery. I change my D200 config alot, and have removed and installed the battery door quite often - I'm actually quite surprised it still has a tight snug fit.

Thanks Yi-P. I'll give that a go some time soon.
