Just a couple from the event held last weekend. Was something different for me, lighting was very harsh. Great fun though! (Watermark should be sorted this time) I found it difficult to get great depth on the smoke from the tyres as well as keep the cars / bikes exposed well.

C+C welcome from those that shoot the drags regularly (and all others of course), this was my first time on the line!

#4 is my favourite purely from the point of capturing a cool bit of the action. Not being a drag fan, the start line seems to generate the most interesting activity. Colours a great and the exposure seems spot on to me, in all four images.

Noice.

Great pics Brett. I especially like #1 and #4. With #1 I keep on looking at where the back tyre would be and love seeing it covered in the smoke. :)#4 is yet another example of the excellent timing you have with motorsport pics!! I don't know how you stay so patient...!!! Very well done - love the pics!! :D

Nice collection mate, good bit of action in each of them :)

Can't wait until you get next to a Top Fueler on the start line. It'll blow your mind and make you a drag-nut..

Dunno if I'd ever get to take a decent shot of a Top Fueler, your body vibrates sooooooo much when they are on the start line and you are only standing metres from them....... such an unreal feeling....!!!

... the light goes green and the drivers stand on the accelerator..... the vibration of 5500bhp go ripping through your body and you are standing looking at amazement at a vehicle that has travelled 60 feet in under a second and has gone 400 metres in under 5 seconds.....

ohhhhhh god I wanna see the Top Fuelers now...!!!

:D

Wow, #2 looks a little like a Honda S600 Coupe to me... in very nice condition.

I might have a stab in saying the motor probably isn't the original 606cc slant-4cyl with 4-on-the-floor transmission? It's just a hunch. :D

Very nice shooting though. Can you tell me where abouts you were standing? I have always found Willowbank a very difficult venue to shoot when confined to the general spectator areas.

Shorty, I always liked driving really really fast in womens clothing, is that where you are going???

No the Honda was definitely no where near standard, it would lift the front left wheel on launch, it certainly had some get up and go, specially considering it was such a light car. And so well presented.

All of these shots were from the start line area, which means I can get much better angles than the spectator areas.

One thing I must say though is they are a little more lax in their safety regs compared to a CAMS run event for clothing requirements for photogs!

Cheers

the times they are getting in TF now compared to when I was going (Calder Park before Bob pulled the pin due to PLI) are stupid.

Can't be a TF for the rush and the thump in your chst... can't beat a Victor Bray burnout.

Great pic #4... nice launch too!
