Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Number 2 for me

I'm not a fan of the first one. The angle means you are looking up her nose.

I suppose it depends on what you are wanting to convey in the book. For me no1 shows a bit of secrecy, not knowing who the person really is. No. 2 shows a person that is fun and beautiful.
Personally I like seeing the face so it is number two for me as well.

I don't mind the first shot but might be better with a tighter crop with less sky? I like the off centre composition though.

For a model portfolio, I would probably go with #1 though the skin seems a bit excessively smoothed

I prefer #2 as a portrait though. I get a sense of the person with it.

Theo,

My wife, Crisoula, says all Greeks are artistic and she prefers No. 1

Good work (and I MUST share her opinion  )

#2 is more of a snapshot

Now, #1 - excellent composition, ethereal in concept. Makes you look at it and imagine the thoughts going through the young ladies mind.

Both pictures are good, but I think number 1 is slightly better.
I know it is all the rage, but I believe the skin treatment in this type of images is becoming so excessive that the models end up looking artificial.

I would call #1.

I would like to see #1 but with maybe just the hint of a smile ideally?

Also I will 2nd the calls on a bit too much PP on the skin.... could you post a less touched up version at all?

thank you all for the comments and your help!

personally i prefer 100% less skin retouch, but if you want to make fashion work these days, it is the first thing that you have to do...

Yasu, #1 has more going one despite mention of nose-cam, I think #2 is too PS heavy. I would fade it back, maybe 10% toward the original image - so it is still 90% re-touch.
