Andy,

Congratulations.

And on Saturday, you need to pay a visit to your wonderful railway museum with your new toy in hand, and shoot some images, posting a few of them for us to review.

It's either that, or I'll condemn you to a weekend in Modesto! :)

Haven't seen anywhere cheaper than ECS. $2585 for d300 and $6950 for d3. Not sure about availability. Camera Warehouse claims 8 days shipping for d300 at $2679.

These are non grey prices and incl GST

The street price in HKG is around HK16000.

The wholesale price seems to be stabilising where it will permit our current forum price to remain as it is - PP2280 delivered - provided the PP doesn't dip too much more. In the last week-and-a-bit it's taken quite a bucketing.

And I can tell you that I'm currently very FedUp with a certain international so-called courier, who will have one of our D300s sitting in HK since last evening, preventing its timely delivery here.

I'm having severe words with them, because of their total absence of service in this matter.

Define "after Christmas".

If you're asking about January, I would doubt it.

Maybe May or June we'll see a 2KD300, but the market has to settle first.

interested to see what d-d will list it at. they're 40d is at $1449 which is pretty damn good. i reckon they'll come in at around the $2300 mark. gotta hand it to ecs, pretty competitive for a full aussie reseller.

i asked today if they would provide double warranty if i ordered in nov, they said only goods picked up in nov. :(

Errr ... that's my pic, and my ex-camera. A bit of explanation is called for, methinks.
I don't make it a habit to go around destroying a perfectly good camera each time I get a new one. This one fell under the wheel of a Land Cruiser while I was on a 40-day overland trip in the Sahara in 2004. I brought it back to show the insurance adjusters but they let me keep the wreckage.
The D300 shot is in response to pestering from people who can't wait to see it, even though I have work deadlines to meet.
I haven't quite figured out the intricaices of the camera yet (421-page owner's manual), like focusing point etc.

Andy,

What's your problem with going shopping the day after Thanksgiving? :) :)

Surely a few mad shoppers and specials don't scare you that much?

(Happy Thanksgiving, btw)
