Does lightroom apply auto corrections?I don't recall this happening on my Fuji S5 (I could test, and will later, I'm lazy), but it seems that the files from the D300 get auto corrected slightly in Lightroom.
The settings in the D300 are set to Standard with Sharpening, Contrast, Brightness, Saturation & Hue all set to '0' however when I import into Lightroom and then go to the develop module the settings are as follows: Blacks 5 Brightness +50 Contrast +25 Sharpening Amount 25 Radius 1.0 Detail 25 So where are these settings coming from? Cheers, Andrew

They are the default settings in Lightroom.
They are the same as this for my D200 and D70. I am fairly sure that you can custom set them if you don't like them - something I have been meaning to do. The setting of 5 for Blacks is fine for the D70, but too much in most instances for the D200. TFF (Trevor)

Thanks Trevor, Funny, I never noticed it with the S5, but I agree the blacks are pretty strong in the D300 so i have found myself lowering this down a little, plus I don't like the brightness being up so high. I will have to reset this. Cheers, Andrew

Yep - what Trevor said. In essence Adobe are saying these are a good starting point for a punchier image, but their choice may not be yours. It's pretty easy to set your own default settings permanently replacing the Lightroom ones (read THIS for how) or you can create your own preset and set that to be used. There is TONs of detail on presets in THIS PDF (5MB download) from the Inside Lightroom site
