Help needed for storyboard creation in Photoshop

Hi guys,

If I have three 8x10 images which I want to get printed out as a storyboard (ie: one sheet of paper) how do I best do this in Photoshop?

I tried to do it in Pro Select but it just isn't working for me. Ideally I need to create a template which I can use over and over again. How big should I make the matting?

Appreciate a quick response as I need to get this done ASAP.

Id best do it in Photoshops 'Picture package' - setup your page size, and add 3 8x10 areas (or are they called zones?) - click on the zones when you have setup the page and saved it, and then add the photos you want to appear in them individually.

Hi Mate,

Yeah I think this would be the easiest way. Just not too sure on how much area I should include around the images as the matting.

Are there any framers on the forum that could provide some advice for this?

if all images are vertical, you will need a frame about 27 inch's wide by 12 inch deep........ and stock to print on about 30 inch wide or long

or do 3 8x10 prints and have a framer put it together

The three images I have are all in Portrait mode. I was thinking something along the lines of:

32 (w) x 16 (h)

This gives a 2inch border between the top and side edges and in between the images and a 4inch border at the bottom.

Do these dimensions sound right?

I was hoping to get the print done on a single piece of paper and then get a framer to frame it (so no extra matting needed as the sheet of paper would include this).

I want to get this right the first time otherwise it could be a costly experiment

I have changed the dimensions slightly (on some advice from big pix) so my latest dimensions are:

Overall size - 17'' x 31''

Each image is 8'' x 10'' with a 1'' gap between them. There is then 2.5'' of space from top and each side (.5'' to allow for the frame) and 4.5'' from the bottom (is this too much?)

Do these sound right?

This is now driving me nuts

I created a new PSD file with the dimensions 31'' x 17'' at 300 pixels per inch... This gives me a canvas of 9300 x 5100 pixels...

I have then placed guides outlining where the three 8''x10'' images are to go...

I then open up one of the images crop it to 8''x10'' @ 300ppi, copy and past it into the storyboard file... I would has thought this would then fit into the 8''x10'' space for one of the images, no.

Each 8''x10'' space in the storyboard file is 2400x3000 pixels. Each image (image layer) is 2848 x 3560 (hence they are too big for the storyboard spaces.

What am I doing wrong? I know I should know this
