Thanks for all the hard work Gary and Leigh. I urge you all to read the FAQ too since there is new stuff related to phpbb3 eg you can have a friends and foes list and there's a new bookmarking feature. My fave new thing is you can Save a post in draft format and edit and submit it later thus saving the need to retype it.

The time that you guys put into this forum always has been incredible, and now you have revamped the forum pages to come up with a great new look is indicative of your drive, determination and perseverance and is super incredible! Congratulations and well done! Cheers Graham (It's bloody wet and cold in Shanghai today) I love the chook but I'm not sure exactly what the chook graphic means.

Yup, first looks are really good. Well done to all involved.
The increased number of posts per page sits really well with me, and I do like the default board layout with poster details on the right. It's probably just me with my one blind eye but I notice them easier over there.

The rendering of the forum logo doesn't come up too well on either of my monitors (BenQ 19" LCD; ViewSonic 17" Beastie)

 Take care

After submitting my previous post, I waited for the thread to redisplay itself. When it did so, all the avatars were lost (replaced with the red cross) except my own. Is this due to a setting I have wrong? I've looked through CP and can see nothing visibly amiss.

great new look.... after I changed it to DSLR_modernV1 I'm glad you made this look as I find it the clearest and easiest to read I'm not sure if it is on all the looks for the portal page but can you adjust the left side padding on your announcement section as the type is to close to the border for comfort thanks for the update and the whole forum/website/community it is one of the best that I belong to

I don't think that the recent posts on the front page are being updated.
Sorry - it looks as though it is updated, but the newest post doesn't rise to the top like it used to.

I had the same problem but what I've done now is to go in the portal, log in, bookmark that page into my browser, now every time I use that bookmark, I am logged in.

I noticed this - I also have to login again everytime I go to the page and each time it tells me there are over 300 new posts since my last login, even if it was 10 minutes ago. Thanks for the tips from previous posts - the avatars are now on the left again And thanks Gary (and Leigh) for the amount of work you put into this site!

Wow this new look is great. Something new to look at means I can put off purchasing that new gear I was thinking about. The amount of work that went into this must be incredible, very generous of all involved. The new skins look great, especially the Nikon Glass. Well done guys. Craig

This might just be a weird permissions issue, or just something that I don't get, but I notice that when on the main page, logged in, using FF, and clicking on the "The Team" listing, under the Menu/Content section, there are a series of drop down boxes next to the mod erators names. I don't really know what they achieve for the average user, or if they should be there? Just wondering more than anything, really

That would be the forums that they mod erate. here, it's universal - they can mod erate any and every section - but I've seen boards where they have one mod for a few sections, and a different mod for some other sections. In that sort of a situation I can see how this feature would be useful, but for us, it really doesn't do much.g.Gary Stark

I've still go to go through the tweaking. Nikon and Canon are likely to be slightly better tweaked than the Modern since I've spent more time on those and then moved to another project.

Thanks for all your time and effort on this guys! It definitely has a more mod ern look and I think it's great that we can choose which format we want the board to have - this thread already shows the difference in people's preferences. I haven't explored around much yet, but will in time. (And I won't ask any questions until I've read the FAQ s! ) Cheers, L

 For those who like the default style/theme but would like the username and avatar displayed on the left instead of the right, here is a quick solution (sorry, Firefox users only). Download the "Stylish" extension here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108 Then create a style (copy and paste this): @-moz-document domain(http://www.dslrusers.com ) {.postbody {       float: right  !important;   }   .postprofile {       float: left  !important;   }   /* To avoid leaving an unnecesary space at the left in "preview post" */   .post#preview .postbody {       width: 100%  !important;   } }
This is a quick solution until the CSS for the default style is changed. Works fine for me so far. And I have tried the "remember me" option in both firefox and IE7 now and I can't stay logged in. Tried the logging out and bookmarking but that didn't work. The cookie just isn't set.Last edited by cawdor on Sun Jan 13, 2008 2:25 pm, edited 1 time in total.

That happened to me too a few times today. Firefox becomes unresponsive and after I close it I have to shut down the process manually. I also just noticed that even though I am logged in and I did not tick the "stay invisible" box I am not shown as "browsing this forum". Not that I mind, it just shows that something isn't right.

mmm... ok... I'll provide the dissenting voice out here and suggest that the orginal look and feel was (in my view) far easier and less noisy than what is on offer now.
An upgrade to a newer base system was always going to happen and I'd be the last person not to appreciate the effort involved !!! BUT ... so far I'm not a fan of the look and feel of any of the new themes in comparision to the orginal... I'll spend a little more time with it and see how it all goes... maybe I'm just a grumpy old stick in the mud !!!

 Michael.

I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and I'm not seeing any crashes, and since I cleared the cookies this morning the site has remembered me all day - previously it would only remember me for a session.
I'm on WinXP, though, unlike Chris.
