 G'day guys
I'm thrilled to announce that along with two other nature photographers, Andrew Teakle and Debra Doenges, I'm co-author/photographer of a new coffee table-style book on Australian wildlife. The book is 128 pages, has 120 photos, 42 of which are my own.
It is titled "Australian Journey - Wildlife", published through New Holland and found in most major bookshops. Price in an amazingly low $14.95 (even we were surprised). I should point out that the first edition has already sold out to all the retailers This really has capped off a remarkable year in my nature photography journey, with many publishings, starting a photography tuition business with my good mate and business partner, Mark Rayner (Slider) as well as my first mini gallery exhibition currently held at the Logan Central Art Gallery in Brisbane, Queensland.
Can't wait for 2008 and hope it's a great year for you all! Cheers

Congrats on the book, can't wait to have a look. I am sure that the photo's will be great judging by the rest of your work. Just a thought, has the publisher or yourself thought of selling them to the local and state library? If not, I have a contact in the State Library that could help out.
 Cheers

Thanks-a-million, guys Marco - Yes, it has been an unbelievable amount of work (my wife, Dena can vouch for this!) with many months of preparation before the final print run. Well worth the end result, though, and thoroughly rewarding.
GK - iI is available in many branches of Angus and Robertson, Dymocks, Borders and QBD bookstores, to name but a few
Ryan - Thanks for the library idea and worth considering. I also appreciate your positive feedback on my work
Matt - I hope they sell well, too ATJ - Thanks, too
 Cheers

 Thanks again, all.
It's great the book is out now, just in time for Chrissy. To have the first print sold out to retailers is pretty damn good, too As I've said, I have worked away at this for many years and now the flood gates are opening! An "overnight success" after only 10 long years This is only the start, too Cheers

Mark - As you know, no one can believe the price and this is helping sales bigtime. Another print run is looking good Antsl - Glad you like my website (its only a sample of my work) but the quality of what you see there is in the books.
Broadbean - Yep, we hope it sells heaps, too.
 Gooseberry - Appreciate it
Andre - I'm seeing the results of that now and thanks for your best wishes.
 Cheers

Awesome Michael. To sell out the print run must be fantastic validation for you and recognition of the pain and labour that you and your co authors would have put into it.

Piro - Yes, the second print run should be bigger so hopefully sales continue well
Peter - It certainly was more work than we ever imagined, especially since we did the total layout and text.

 Hi Zafra52
Thanks for that. Yes, the quality of the paper, cover and printing are very high (thank goodness). It is for this reason, along with people liking the images, as well as the price, that the first edition sold out to the shops before the official release date.
 Cheers

Was flicking through this at BigW at lunchtime, and I gotta say that it looks good.
One thing that stood out to me was the standard of your photo's in this - whether I am just used to seeing your style, and therefore it stood out to me, or whether your photo's really were of a much higher standard, it wasn't difficult to pick your photos from the other contributors'. Not saying theirs weren't good - just yours seemed to have an extra element to them Well done, and hope the success continues *** When getting there is half the fun! ***

 Hi Sheepie
Thanks so much for your comments. It is very satisfying that people such as yourself appreciate my photography and have had many similar comments since the book was released. The book overall has received fantastic feedback, which is a always a relief.

Thanks Colin I hope so too. There are plenty of out-standing orders around the country so things are looking up. Deadgoose Welcome to the forum. Yes, it is nice being co-author of a book, but it has been an incredible amount of work over the years to have the publishings I have had so far. Years worth of long, long hours in the filed, at the computer, virtually no tv, late nights, weekends doing post-processing/writing/research etc etc, simply trying to improve my work, learning new techniques and keeping the momentum going. Good luck with publishing your own photos, too. Cheers
