as the title said

I have just realized that I had the grad ND filter a little low in the frame, that is why the rocks get darker as you move towards the sun

WOW Fantastic.

I hadn't really noticed the rocks until you mentioned it.
It almost looks like a huge cloud above is shadowing them or something out of Independence Day ( and those types of movies ) where the mothership comes to visit.

What combination of GND's were you using?

Cheers.

I had the same impression, till I read about the filter.

Nice exposure.

Thought you used flash to light the rocks and not the misplacement of the filter.

I like the shot a lot. Is that near Mahon pool? It's a stunning composition it really is. I like how the rocks lead you to the light and then the light spreads from slightly off centre and goes to the edge of the frame. I think it's a little too light in the foreground but I'm a noob and would be over the moon to get anything even close to that.

thanks for the positive comments,
it was a great morning and I have wanted to photograph sunrise there ever since I saw macka's pic she posted of the pool march last year

Wocka ; sorry can't remember which grad ND I was using or if I had a couple stacked for this shot... but as the sun is up it is more than likely that it was multiple filters

Benny ; I'm not sure of the name of the pool but you can see the pool fence in the right side of the photo
