Waiting...be nice - first image post by new member, comments welcome. Heaps wrong with it but I kinda like it.
So this is my daughter waiting at the front door for her friends to turn up at her birthday party yesterday. She was waiting there an hour before they were due to arrive. Shot with Ixus 400 so excuse the quality. Made me remember how much I liked my old Canon T70 in the late 80's. Looks like I am in the market for a dSLR now . Spent lunchtime playing with a D80 at the camera store. Hopefully be back with some better efforts one I buy a worthwhile camera D80, 50mm F/1.8, 18-70mm DX, Sigma 10-20mm
Re: Waiting...Lovely play of light across the doorway and on the child's back. In a one sense I could say....shame about the security door with added chicken wire security and the car parked in front...but in another sense I could say..a great juxtaposition between childhood innocence and urban reality.
Nothing wrong with that Ixus shot. You were there with a camera when the light was spot on.
Re: Waiting...A very poignant shot that is enhanced by the mug. It indicates to me both anticipation and loneliness. To take this shot one step beyond, add some blur to the outside area to throw it out of focus.

Re: Waiting...
I know, almost didnt post it because of that then thought what they hell.
The joys of inner city living. The chicken wire keeps the chihuahua in and the baddies out
Thanks D80, 50mm F/1.8, 18-70mm DX, Sigma 10-20mm
Re: Waiting...Welcome to the forum, and I like the shot too and she's so cute for waiting for so long, reminds me of myself. Good luck with your search for a new camera, this place is a great resource for research and asking all the dumb questions you wouldn't ask in the shop
Re: Waiting...I like the shot also. You can almost feel the anticipation and nerves. Wonder how it would look in B&W.
Welcome aboard also. 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Re: Waiting...deadgoose
I love the colour version....you have really used the light! I'd be tempted to crop the image a little tighter bit that's just a personal taste thing. Regards
