North YorkshireHere is another hand held pano that I took of North Yorkshire in late afternoon. Quite like the sun rays coming through the clouds. Looks quite divine!

Nice, i wonder who that was down in the valley that got the ray of sunshine.
Looks very familiar too. Steve.

Hi Kipper...
I really like this pano.... it's wonderful and very peaceful... the only thing i would say is it lacks some 'pop', as in contrast and the colours etc... do you mind if i do a quick edit and post the result? (this is becoming a habit... ) cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Hahaha....xerebus, I was just looking at Matty B's thread on Aireys Inlet and I thought I accidently switched back to it when I read your post. Then noticed you said Kipper and not Matty B. By all means, go for it.
As for contrast and detail in the foreground. I can see a bit of detail but it's not very exposed. I'm not 100% sure if my monitor is too dark/light or if the contrast is set right. Having the monitor set right always helps when working in ddark room.
I think the shot is absolutely brilliant... and personally i'd frame that on a wall ... i just think a little bit more PP will bring out the colours and give it more oomph.... All i have done here is adjust the levels slightly.... +9 contrast... adjust shadows and highlight... opague velvia... and a very slight usm.... not the greatest results with web ready jpg, but it's a try... original: edited: give it a go on the original... you may get better results... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Xerubus, this edit gives an already great image a real oil on canvas look - a classic - biblical even. To re- work a Tiff of the original Raw the foreground noise will be repaired and the whole image will benefit.
Good stuff all 'round. Shoot early - Shoot often
agreed completely... kipper has 'nailed it' .... i'd love to see what some work on the original would look like.... playing around with small jpgs will never give good results... kipper... two thumbs up mate.. well done. http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Although I admire what you have done Mark I would have held back just a little on the oomph - maybe midway between kipper’s original and your rework. The dark mystery of the original disappears somewhat with the rework IMO

Much better panoThis is a far better pano than Port Solent IMHO.
And, although I haven't been there (yet!) I sort of envisage the place to be soft, like your picture, rather than the saturated colours of the xerebus rework. But, I'm only going by "All Creatures Great and Small"!

I posted some fairly strong criticism of your Port Solent pano and here have the opposite view to what I expressed there. This is a good shot. There is a nice strong central part to the image in the ray of sunshine that pulls me in for a closer look and the rest of the image rounds things out nicely. I think that the mods by Xerebus go a little too far in brightening up the image, maybe only a little more was all that's needed. This onces a keeper Peter
