I can go with March 1 or 8. Either is good. I assume we will be doing this in Sydney.

I think it is fair to say this will be in Sydney.

I reckon it would be great if someone could bring a high res scanner and we had a laptop to scan the negs after development.

Ok ...

Looking at the numbers, we seem to have a preference - in terms of greater participant availability - for March 8. Sorry Andre; if you can rearrange your deck chairs, that would be great.

Now that that's settled, I still need to source a suitable venue so that we can do some processing ....

Perhaps a list of attendees would be a good start to determine numbers. I'll open from this end:

1. Reschsmooth & possibly Mrs Reschsmooth. (And a box of developing kit: tank, spools, developer, stop, fixer, measuring containers, squeegee, clipsx2)
2...

So, trying to get a list together:

1. Craig_7
2. Paul (maybe plus 1.1)
3. Patrick (maybe plus 1.3)
4. Your name here

Copy the list and add your name if you are going to attend.

No, it hasn't and Craig shall remain blameless. In this regard, at least.

Is this version a little clearer?

I reckon it would be a good idea if someone who knows what they are doing, or Gary, can run through some push processing, to illustrate the adage: "Expose for the shadows, develop for the highlights". Compared to digital sensors, it really is a different way to shoot (not that I have put it into practise yet). :D

One thing that is missing is a location for both shootin' and developin'. I wonder if access to the White Bay Power Station would be feasible for the shootin'. And I then wonder if that place in Balmain where we had the portrait session in August last year would be suitable and available for the developin'? I finally wonder if there is anywhere in Balmain where you could get a beer?

Well, yes, but I'm wondering whether this might not be a tad advanced given the nature of what we're trying to achieve on this day? I'm not against the concept, but if this the first film outing for some, as I suspect it will be, I'm wondering if it's not entirely appropriate?

Thoughts, y'all?

While I like the idea, I think getting access might prove problematic.

But ...

We did, a couple of years ago, get some access to the restoration work being done in Glebe Bay on the heritage boats. Who organised that? It might be worthwhile.

Or Cockatoo (I think) Island perhaps?

And I then wonder if that place in Balmain where we had the portrait session in August last year would be suitable and available for the developin'? I finally wonder if there is anywhere in Balmain where you could get a beer?

I don't think that would be suitable for this, and I'm not sure that it's available to us any more.

Do we have any school teachers around? A science room at a high school would be perfect.

And if we do consider a venue .... it would need to be handy to the facilities we will be ending up at. You've already considered that point in your suggestions, but I'm merely highlighting that for others to note.

Given this is less than 2 weeks away, any further ideas on locations for shooting and developing? Incidentally, the White Bay Power Station is unavailable anyway.

I tried Primrose Park Arts Centre in Neutral Bay as they have a full darkroom and other facilities, but unfortunately, they are unavailable that day.

Sorry guys, I've had a family function be re-scheduled for the same weekend (in Batemans Bay), and I'm the weakest link, so I've got to make do with the changes. So I'll have to bow out, which is a shame but I'm certainly still keen to learn more about film and do some shooting as well at a later date.

I've asked a couple of questions elsewhere, and I'm hopeful of an answer RSN.

All we really need is a dustfree room with hot and cold water.

It's all under control ... we're just finalising the details now.

For those who are going and don't have (or have otherwise access to) a film camera, I will bring a Nikon FE (metered, manual focus) and F90x (metered and auto focus) with me which will be available.

Anyone on the northern beaches or north shore who needs a lift, raise your hand as I should be able to give one or two people a lift.

Which side of the park are we meeting?

There are two possible entrances, quite some distance apart and both difficult to get to from the south, which is the way I am coming. Is it near the pool or near the Princes Highway?

I'd like to know before I challenge my TomTom to find it :)

Steve,

Let's do the northern most side. it's up the top; should have plenty of room for us to talk and socialise and get the whole thing under way.

I have filum ... a bulk loader .... 20 cans .... soup and fixer .... a dev tank ... a change bag ... some jugs and thermometers ...

And a few filum cameras for those who may be depraved.

Er, Deprived.

I need to remember scissorerers and masking tape and a hair dryer (it dosn't get any use on my head, ya know :) )

What else???

I have:

1. Kiddy scissors (for not putting holes in the dark bag).
2. Thermometer
3. Jugs (ok, man-boobs)
4. Chemicals (dev, stop, fix)
5. Tank + 2 spools
6. Hanging clips
7. Squeegee
8. Timer
9. A Macquarie Bank towel to clean up the mess.

In terms of the shoots - I can bring a lightweight lightstand, brolly adaptor, brolly and a metz with 5m pc cord if that would be appropriate.

May I never attain the rank of senior member.

I am moving house this weekend, though I am making some surprisingly expensive film investments, so future activities would be of interest.... really. I am eager to hear how you go.

I will bring along my dark bag, and a couple of tanks and a camera or 3...

And my HC-110

I will also have some 120 rolls of FP4 and Acros for us who find the 35mm stuff just too small

Plan B: See plan A.

:)

Rain, hail, sleet, snow ... shine .... we'll be there.

And to address your earlier question, no, there'll be no need to bring any studio lights.
