Sydney Motor show At Darling Harbour

Postby birddog114 on Tue Sep 28, 2004 8:32 am

Sydney Motor show at Darling Harbour next week. Is anyone going?
Lots of shooting challenge with difference lightning sources and models (young women) + cars on each show case. The 18-70 kit lens will have a good try here.
Thought?

The new Maserati race car will be on display, but I've generally found the Melbourne Motor Show to be the better of the two. Last time I went to Sydney - 3 years ago now, IIRC - I was very disappointed at the complete absence of anything of real interest.

Haven't yet decided if I'll go to this year's Sydney show.

There are only a couple of places in Oz where it would be worthwhile driving one, actually. Bathurst would be fun, and Philip Island, even more so. Maybe the Adelaide or Melbourne street circuits, but beyond those ... The Great Ocean Rd in Vic would be nice, but not legal.

Otherwise, it would just be frustrating to not allow it to have its head.

Onyx,

The show runs till Oct 17. How's that blonde chic of yours? :)

Birddog,

Apart from the Maserati, Neville Crichton has his (Ateco's) G1 there, and Ateco have also brought out the 8c Competizione concept car.

The G1 is widely regarded as the first ever true Alfa (it's road registered through the Alfa Owners' Club) while the 8c, from looking at pictures and reading its specs, evokes memories of many of the greatest racing Alfas, including those built by Jano.

These two cars alone (but together) might make this a Sydney motor show worth visiting (for a change), with the Maserati being considered as a bonus.

Who's interested in a trip there?

Sorry Gary, I think I might JUST miss this one. If you go, be sure to take lots of pics - and including the Bathurst winners which are usually on display. :)

That might be tricky if we wander out this weekend. Bathurst is this coming Sunday (Skaife has already had an off in the first day of qualifying).

And Japan F1GP is this Sunday too.

Revhead heaven!

I bet you'll be able to capture nice wide angle shots of the cars with the 18-70DX kit lens, and watch (and laugh) at the P&S crowd having to stand far far away to get the whole vehicle framed on their shots. :)

We'll probably head there on Sunday, as Leigh's working on Saturday and I have a couple of other engagements on Saturday afternoon as well.

Maybe head to Dixon St afterwards for a late lunch ?
