A walk with Dad and ValWell, I thought I would take my new D80 for a walk (for the first time) with Dad on the weekend. Just wanted to see how the kit lens (18-135) would behave. Quite pleased really.
Just can't walk past beautiful gums though without a shot. I haven't used an SLR for years so I am only just starting to look again with a digital. What a joy. Just like to thank "Grunt"/Chris for inspiring me again. Cheers
Re: A walk with Dad and ValSorry, forgot to say C&C welcome...thanks

Re: A walk with Dad and ValI think you are enjoying your D80 a lot already.
And also, nice shots - the 2nd one is olives ? I would have loved to see more blue in the 3rd photo, it compliments the tones of the tree so nicely. Keep them coming, regards, CD
Re: A walk with Dad and ValI like all 3 shots well done
Cheers Cobby
Re: A walk with Dad and ValWelcome Flash.

Re: A walk with Dad and ValThanks all for your comments. The second shot is of young olives. I live on Sturt Gourge, South Adelaide and the area is covered with wild trees. I love the 'bloom' on the fruit which gets rubbed off by it's neighbours. I'm thinking of harvesting a few kilos and pickling them. If anyone knows when I should pick them and how to preserve them I would love to try it out.
Re: A walk with Dad and ValI think 2 & 3 have got that "pop" about them. There is real seperation from the background.
I like the treatment of 1 but personally feel that the people in the shot makes it seem as though you have run out of zoom. For me they either need to be closer or not in the image at all. Just my $0.02 Cheers,
