D2H ErrorHope one of the D2h experts here can help.
A friend has a D2h which works fine with any lens without and aperture ring (typical kit lenses) but gives an EE error message when any other lens is attached. Tried a Tamron 90 Macro and my Nikkor 200 Micro (both have aperture rings) and both gave the error. The manual states that the EE error means that the aperture has not been set to minimum which was not the case as the lenses were both locked in at their minimum aperture. Am I missing something in teh camera settings or does the camera need a service? Thanks in advance Cheers

Re: D2H Errorhmmm.. ive never owned a D2H but i guess the same suggestions apply with these kinda problems - have you tried the lenses on another body?
and i dont think you would've mistook smallest aperture for the lowest f-number.. -j
Re: D2H ErrorWish it had of been that simple.
Took the Tammy off her camera and it worked straight up on my D300. Grabbed another Tammy of someone else's D80 and it also then immediately showed the error on the D2h. Aperture was locked at f/32. Think it needs a camera doctor. I'm just hoping there's some simple setting that I've missed on the camera Cheers

Re: D2H ErrorThis sounds very much like expected behaviour.
With CPU-lenses that have an aperture ring the D2H will flash FEE on the display if the aperture ring isn't set to the smallest aperture and: a) the exposure mode is set to P or S (programmed or shutter priority), or b) in all exposure modes if the camera is configured to use the front command dial (rather than the aperture ring) for setting the aperture. In P or S exposure modes the camera needs to be able to select and set an aperture. It can do that only if the aperture on the lens closed all the way. The menu setting for aperture selection in A and M exposure modes is under CMS menu -> f5 (command dials) -> Aperture setting. Hope this helps Steffen. EDIT Sorry, I should have read the OP more carefully.... If the camera doesn't recognise that the lens is set to the smallest aperture then there might be a defect in the camera logic somewhere. Are the CPU contacts in the lens mount clean? lust for comfort suffocates the soul
Re: D2H Error
Steffen's explanation of the usage is and possible solutions is pretty well spot on. Based upon what you've said you've done, try cleaning the contacts. Is there any movement of the lenses when mounted on the body? Given that this is occurring with lenses made by Nikon as well as third parties, the possibility of this being a firmware issue is somewhat reduced, but it may be worth checking to see that installed version is the latest available. Beyond that, yes, a visit to the quack may well be needed. g.

Re: D2H ErrorThanks for the help Folks
Contacts seemed OK and apertures on all the lenses I tried were locked in at the minimum ( f22 or 32). Didn't make any difference which setting (P,A,S,M) and taking the lens straight off the D2h body and putting it onto another the lens worked straight up. Very strange and hopefully not too expensive. Cheers

Re: D2H ErrorCheck CSM menu item F5 - Aperture Setting
Try both, but the usual should be Sub-Command Dial. Try without lens, by just moving the aperture ring, see if camera detects any aperture changes. Might be a wild suggestion, but have you tried loading up the 2.0.x Firmware into the D2H? Edit: have you tried on a manual focus lens? Which has only aperture ring but no CPU contacts??
Re: D2H ErrorHi All
Did this problem ever get sorted? I also have the same problem with my D2h, it has the latest firmware on and as said in this thread works fine with non aperture ring lens but as soon as an aperture ring lens goes on FEE error shows.
