It's actually a locally manufactured item. Currently out of stock; we're hoping to get fresh supplies in a little under two months' time. g.

Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'em
Not sure if it's the fold-up umbrella or those white legs that bother me the most Also, one taken by Little Sheepie of Big Sheepie, and one taken by Big Sheepie of Little Sheepie Finally, Little Sheepie and a Grumpy Old Man Yeah, I know the white balance is out on these - they're from the first pass I did of my shots from the weekend. I'll get around to posting some more a bit later maybe *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'emOkay,
now that I know what you all look like, I'll keep my eye out for you lot at the Summer Nationals at WSID on 15th and 16th Feb. Lots of great photo options available with ten Top Fuel car's plus full fields in all group one class's. May I suggest half track to the finish line for more T/F fireball's than you can poke a stick at I'm easy to spot, they tell me I look like a chinese market gardener in my big straw hat beats getting the crap burnt out of you all day. Hope to see some of you lot there, Fred.

Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'em
I am actually surprised they let anyone on the infield with an umbrella at all, it is a bit of a safety risk, i.e. it can be blown away and across the track if the wind picks up...
Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'em
Brett, That's actually a very good point. However, I would even go further: if an umbrella has been blown out of your hands - or has been damaged by the wind and has parts flying off it - it really doesn't matter whether you're in the infield, or anywhere else within the circuit: it's possible fr those arts or the whole umbrella to be blown onto the track from basically anywhere, subject to the wind direction. The security however at Eastern Creek was simply non-existent, and for us, no questions were asked, no instructions given; we were left to our own devices. Other togs had umbrellas, and I think I saw one of the TV camera operators also with one. No different in Melbourne for the F1, btw, where, on hot days, they even have umbrellas on the grid. g.

Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'em
I do understand your points completely and agree. The main thing I'm concerned about is that a tog is taking pictures, and usually is concentrating on what can be seen through the viewfinder rather than trying to control an umbrella. I know I'm giving the general spectator too much credit here. I'm really surprised about the security. I know at the Superbikes up in Queensland they were very particular about what you could do and where you could go, and at least with bikes they are very predictable in the manner in which they will 'crash' off of a track, unlike cars. Oh and I'm waiting to see more pics from the A1 Cheers Brett
Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'em
Speaking of security.... Paul and I were taking pictures from the boot of my X-Trail wagon, with the tailgate sheltering us from the rain, which had been reversed to within 2 meters of the fence near turn two I am kicking myself we didn't get a picture of it - Leigh?? 7D, 60D, 70-200mm f/4LIS, 17-50mm f/2.8, 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, 50mm f/1.4, 100mm f/2.8 Macro, 580EX II
Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'emI don't think I did, but I haven't gone through all my photos yet. Working between them and real work is a hassle.

Re: DSLRUsers at the A1 - Post 'em if you got 'emA bit OT, but thought I'd post some in-car footage of a Top Fuel run from Perth. Gives a good idea of how fast they fly down the 1/4, and how much their heads get smacked around.
