Vietnam + Lightroom

Long time lurker first time poster in this secion...
Here's a few photos that I took in vietnam and used Lightroom for PP, I'm aware that the PP is _really_ strong but it's a look that I seem to be obsessed with at the moment.
As things go with obsessions it's hard not to be subjective when reviewing your own work. My concerns are is it too dark and am I overdoing it and detracting from the actual image?

as individual photos they may be considered a little dark but at a series the color ones work very well together because the look becomes intentual and cannot be seen as a mistake... they have become art :)

great shots, I think the post processing is fine. Not too keen on how the red color stands out in the first one though....... :)

Nice work, I would love to see the BW one treated the same to keep it a congruous set.

Thanks for the kind words, I've generally been hesitant to post anything (especially on OCAU) as people tend to get torn to threads
Now that it's been mentioned I agree the reds in the first are really distracting, I'll try my hand at making the B&W shot fit the rest of the theme.

1 -3 are in Ho Chi Minh (saigon) around district 1, shot 1 we got lost and ended up in quite a run down area off chuong dong (if you feel like looking it up on a map :P ) was a bit paranoid as it didn't look too tourist friendly so the camera stayed in the bag for the most part.
4 was taken on the way to cu chi tunnels where the tour bus stopped off at a handicapped handicrafts area, it's sponsored by the govt, they charge quite inflated prices (about 20-25 times what you'd pay on the street), the missus was more than happy to pau though :?
5 was in Hanoi on a walkabout on the edge of the old district while the missus dealt with the side effects of the local food... poor lass

nice wotjek

I like the PP you have done on these and with adjustments to the BW pic this would be a nice moody set of images.

We also enjoy all that Vietnam offers - its people, food and great opps for photography..would love to get there more often

Good to see you back on the forum! keep those pics coming.

cheers

R2 BTW how is my 'old' tokina 12 -24 going.

Finally found a moment spare to re-do the B&W, I'm not sold on it though.. i think i prefer it as a B&W and on its own rather than a part of the series

It's a place I really want to go back to, spend more time up North, definitely keen to see Sa Pa and the rest up in the mountains. Great place, people, food and beer (i was obsessed with street food and Bia Hoi)

It didn't come off the old nikon for a while , haven't used it much recently as It lacks the flexibility of my 18-70 when walking about. Great/Fun lens though, got a kick out of the perspective distortion too
