Portrait Available lightD300 50 1.4 combo available light..1/160th f3.2
Slight desat and resize Your Thoughts?? MATT
Re: Portrait Available lightMatt, I really like this but I'd like to see the original (not desaturated). I also think a tighter crop under her chin would work better. Nice available light with a beautiful lens
As I look at it again, I think a full desaturated/mono of this would work better than some desaturation. Hope this is constructive! Geoff
Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
Re: Portrait Available lightI like the DOF and composition, but I agree with Geoff a little of the bottom might not hurt.
Re: Portrait Available lightI like the crop. But agree with Geoff on either oringinal colour or B/W.

Re: Portrait Available lightI like It
but i find the her dress on the bottom right distracting maybe a crop want take some of that out
Re: Portrait Available lightGreat use of DOF.
cheers marco
Re: Portrait Available lightI will dissent and say the crop works fantastically the way it is. The "flaring" to the shoulders gives the head shot a strong foundation to it. The semi-desat works well too.

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
Re: Portrait Available lightMatt, the question is do you like it? This person is obviously special to you and as such, if this photograph brings you a smile, then what does it matter what we like. I do like it by the way but if I did not - it would not take anything away from the photo nor reduce its importance to you. When we look through the viewfinder, it is what we see that we find special not what we think others should or could like..

Re: Portrait Available lightThanks for the feedback.
I tried a different crop, but feel the shirt/sholders adds to the framing..Just looked funny with out it. Looking at a BW version I think I like that better also.. Thanks again MATT
Re: Portrait Available lightThat one dominant eye bang smack in the middle of the frame is a favoured device by rembrandt (or was it Da Vinci?). Anyway....it works with your portrait.
Regards
Matt. K
