A Current Affair vs. Top Fuel Dragster (5 Pics)

Some people from A Current Affair dropped by the pits today...
Image
They were there to do a story on Amanda Shepherd...
Image
The lovely lady from ACA got to sit in the car while Amanda showed her around...
Image
Before she knew it, the crew had started the car; and with Matt's hand reaching for the hat, he revved the guts out of the 8000HP motor!
Image
It blew her mind...
Image

They decided to film Amanda's race shortly after, in which she ran a 4.96 @ 296mph (477km/h)!! Her first ever 4-second-pass, which not many people have done, yet she's only 19!

Congrats Amanda, top notch!

Nice candids. That last one with the TT reporter flabbergasted is cool. Amanda Shepherd is cute too. She's a lot better looking than most dragster drivers :)

Good series - Running a 4 sec pass, what skill she must have, not to mention an awesome support crew to prepare the car. A feel good story.

Thanks, Y'all. Appreciate it. I think I did OK, considering i'm a self-confessed social phobic :)

I didn't plan on doin' the candid style shots, but didn't have a choice as there were a number real togs around in prime position, which is fair enough.

I'll let you know when they air the story on TT :)

Thats impressive - would scare the be-jesus out of me. Not to mention what it would have done when I was 19!

Nice shots - did well to capture the expression on the presenters face.

Love the last shot. It's one of those right time right place moments. I can imagine she was blown away by the experience. Just watching them is enough to send shivers down your spine!

Awesome pics, I was out there on Saturday night, directly opposite the burnout pad. I'll have to pull my finger out & post 'em up.
