OT - Jimmy Smith diesAbsolutely nothing to do with photography, but I'm sure that I'm not the only one here who appreciates the work of Jimmy Smith on the Hammond B3.
Found dead in his bed in Phoenix AZ. Sad news; Jimmy was one of my favourites. I was privileged to meet him in Long Beach CA in 1992. g.

Tonight, my computer will be playing a Jimmy Smith tribute... if you're anywhere in direct vicinity of my speakers, that is what you'll hear. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

I've got a Sydney Blues Society Jam Committee meeting this evening, but I'll have some of Jimmy's work in the GTV along for the ride.

As a blues lover, I'm a wee bit embarassed by my lack of knowledge of Jimmy Smith, but having a look at some of the links here has made me determined to follow up.
I have always enjoyed the Hammond work of people like Georgie Fame and Billy Preston (plays a lot with Clapton). Thanks for the info
You might also want to check out Joey DeFrancesco (Dad got me onto him)... while I love Jimmy Smith, I think Joey DeFrancesco is better...

Genius Loves CompanyThere is some terrific Hammond work from Billy Preston on the Genius Loves Company CD, which is the compilation of Ray Charles duets.
Missedd this one originally. I own some of his work and enjoy immensly. I didn't know he was alive though...so my regrets...I guess.
Pop culture has no idea as to how much they owe to this man.
