Is there anybody out there?

Postby ozonejunkie on Mon Sep 17, 2007 4:08 pm

After hearing that we have lost another forum member to interstate, how many of us are left here in the ACT?

Of the remaining members, is anyone interested at a meet at Floriade some time in the coming weeks? It would be great to catch up with everyone again.

If there are any new members, feel free to introduce yourself as well!

Hi Tristan,

hello to you - I'm still around.
I' have been and are also planning to go back to Floriade - it changes all the time.

Let us know a bit more about your thoughts re Floriade, at the moment I can pretty much go any time I like, I'm currently not limited to weekends.

Regards,
CD

Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?

Oh no! The ranks are thinning mate!

Dunno if I'll make it down for Floriade. If I do, I'll see if we can meet up.

I've been lurking, reading for a while, but seeing there is now some semblance of life in the ol' ACT I should reply :)

Would love to head down to Floriade and meet up: pretty much any time on a weekend except this Sunday (23rd September).

Hi everyone. New here and new to the ACT, so just thought i would shout out and say hi. I have only been down this way for about 6 months so far. Before i was doing a lot of media work for a big mining company which was good fun. Can't wait to do some work around here now!

Hey Christiand,

Thanks for the welcome. I mainly do sports event photography at the moment. I was doing all the PR and photography for a major mining company for the past 3 years, but decided it was time to get out on my own. I am getting enough money to get by since coming down here, but by no means have i got enough work to be busy just yet. But the challenge from coming to a new place has been great. I'll post some pics up soon so people can have a look at what i've done in the past.

Are there any things around here that anyone would recommend as interesting to shoot? I have a few bands playing that have asked me to do some photos so that should be fun as well.

It may be short notice,
however I have an idea regarding a mini meet coming Saturday.

What do you think ?

Please see below:

Quote:
Portrait Lecture: Hall of Mirrors Anne Zahalka Portraits 1987-2007
Join Anne Zahalka, one of Australia’s pre-eminent photomedia artists, for a gallery-based talk as she explores the thread of portraiture, representation and identity in this major survey of her celebrated career, which spans over 20 years. This is a free lecture and all are welcome.

National Portrait Gallery, Commonwealth Place
Saturday 8 March, 2-3pm

I think the exhibition is great and getting the chance to hear the artist is even better.
I will be there anyway and using that location and event as a base we might meet and continue to explore the lake, the buildings or whatever you like.

Cheers,
CD

I think i have that weekend free, so i think you can count me in. It'll be the first time i'll meet up with people so I'm very excited.

Is the venue easy to get to? I'm pretty new here so any help there would be great!

Thanks guys!

Well it turns out i don't have that weekend free. :( There is the Aussie Rules on at Manuka and I'm trying to take some photos, so i won't be able to make it. That really sucks, cause i was looking forward to meeting up for the first time.

Maybe next time!
