A Trip to Lidcombe Today....Well, over the weekend my 17-55mm f/2.8 decided not to zoom anymore, it was like it was stuck between 17 and 24mm. It hasn't taken a bump at all and I'm really careful with my gear (Sometimes too careful) but there seems to be a rattle in it. Buggered if I can work it out, how it got there. Tried it on 3 bodies as well. Anyway, took it to Nikon today and they said it sounds like some spring in it (Whatever that means). So the good news is that it will be fixed under warrenty as it's only 8 months old
Well, has anyone else expierance this issue and if so how long did it take to fix/sort it out. It's just that I need it in about 3 weeks for 2 weddings I'm doing. Bill
Re: A Trip to Lidcombe Today....Bill, I don't think the delay will be how long it takes to fix, more how long till they start. I would be impressing on them you need it in 3 weeks. Good luck

Re: A Trip to Lidcombe Today....I had a similar thing happen with my 17-35 a while ago, but the lens was well out of warranty. It wouldn't go any wider than about 24mm, and if it did, it got stuck there. Anyway, took it to the then Baltronics and there was a piece in it that had been bent and damaged. The AF doesn't work, however.
Regards, Patrick
Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935. Our mug is smug
