Cloudy Sunrise at Kioloa Beach HDRHi everyone, I've been a lurker of this forum for awhile, just not confident enough to show my photo up here. Anyway, here is my first attempt (clicky for bigger version):
This photo was taken a couple of wks ago. We went down to Batemanbay for this workshop and I took the chance to shoot some sunrise photos. It suxed though, the weather was so much cloudy that I could hardly see the sun. So I took a bunch of cloudy photo, picked out the best one and did some HDR via photomatix. It turned out well IMO. Setup: D40 with 18-200 AF-S VR on Tripod. Kenko CPL filer on top. Exposure about 10 seconds. C&C are much appreciated. Re: Cloudy Sunrise at Kioloa Beach HDRLovely, often HDR gets pushed too far and looks unnatural, in this case you've achieve a surreal but still natural feel to it, so a big thumbs up and I look forward to seeing more shots from you!
As an aside Kioloa and Bawley Point are two of my favourite parts of the world, I used to feed the rays there by hand which was an unforgettable experience.

Like Phoenix, I am not a big fan of HDR, but this one is an exception. Well done. Peter

Re: Cloudy Sunrise at Kioloa Beach HDRVery nice indeed! Lovely pastels. It invokes associations with Paul's (Lost Dingo's) shots...
Cheers Steffen. lust for comfort suffocates the soul
