Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Cloudy Sunrise at Kioloa Beach HDR

Hi everyone, I've been a lurker of this forum for awhile, just not confident enough to show my photo up here. Anyway, here is my first attempt (clicky for bigger version):
Image
This photo was taken a couple of wks ago. We went down to Batemanbay for this workshop and I took the chance to shoot some sunrise photos. It suxed though, the weather was so much cloudy that I could hardly see the sun. So I took a bunch of cloudy photo, picked out the best one and did some HDR via photomatix. It turned out well IMO.

Setup: D40 with 18-200 AF-S VR on Tripod. Kenko CPL filer on top. Exposure about 10 seconds.

C&C are much appreciated.
Quang

Love the surreal feeling...wish there was a human element in it... it's not too late to add it in ;)

Lovely, often HDR gets pushed too far and looks unnatural, in this case you've achieve a surreal but still natural feel to it, so a big thumbs up and I look forward to seeing more shots from you!

As an aside Kioloa and Bawley Point are two of my favourite parts of the world, I used to feed the rays there by hand which was an unforgettable experience.

I don't really usually like HDR stuff. But this one is really nice. Congrats!

Quang

Like Phoenix, I am not a big fan of HDR, but this one is an exception. Well done.

Very nice indeed! Lovely pastels. It invokes associations with Paul's (Lost Dingo's) shots...
