so i shot her next to an ikea light p.s. 85mm f1.4d is so f#in' great....... can't live without it. thank you for your comments as always, theodoros
Re: just a portraitI love it. The only niggle I could see is that the nose looks slightly odd in the middle, but that could be my monitor as it's new and not calibrated yet.
Nikon D7000
Re: just a portraitcool portrait! Like the lighting, but would probably like to see more of her face/hair in focus.
Re: just a portraitBeautiful girl! I love the selective focus.
The only aspect that I don't like is the wall on the LHS that close in on her towards the top of the image. TFF (Trevor)

Re: just a portraitFantastic. Love the light. Shots like this make me want to spend the day practicing portraiture with my D80 and 50mm F/1.8
Also makes me want a 85mm F/1.4 - damn lens lust D80, 50mm F/1.8, 18-70mm DX, Sigma 10-20mm
Re: just a portraitTheodoros, thank you for sharing these images with us. I feel a bit awkward criticising your pictures for I have learned quite a lot from you so take my comments only as a different point of view. I feel the angle of the Ikea shade (if you hadn’t told us is an Ikea Lamp I would have thought it is a piece of paper, a curtain or a wall) a bit distracting so I would cut it out of the picture altogether or if this image is a crop of the original reframe it to give a context (e.g. appearing as a prop). The second image you almost have it and I believe the lamps shows a either a wall or as a lamp if you hadn’t cut the hand of the subject, so I would re-crop the image showing more of the hand or removing the fingers. The colour, sharpness of the eyes, and depth of field are all great.
Re: just a portraitmany thanks everyone and special thanks zafra for your suggestions!
Re: just a portraitI now know why you can't live without that lens, superb shots, like the 2nd better than 1st but both shots are great

Re: just a portraitA very beautiful portrait. Love the toned down color sepia effect and the simple expression of the child's face
