Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistThe well known tourist landmark, Richmond Bridge at Richmond, Tasmania.
Taken with Nikon D2H and 10.5mm Fisheye. (5 images 1 stop apart combined in Photomatix Pro.) Extra processing in PSCS is with Nik Colour effects Pro; Pro contrast to improve tone depth, polariser for richer blues and greens and skylight to add some warmth. Cropped for balance and sharpened at about 0.3 px and 144% to retain some detail. I think that HDR works well for this type of image. It might look a bit oversaturated, but that is what I wanted. I didn't want to overdo it though. Click on the image for larger view (x1200px) I figured it would look good with the Impressionist filter also. A good subject for this filter. If Monet had passed by here, maybe this is how he would have seen it. Steve.

Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistThat type of filter really suits the image
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistSteve, I like the first one, but not so sure about the Monet look. Maybe I'm just not arty enough. The saturation is spot on IMHO.
I've been photographing around Hobart for 3 years now and I've never taken a shot in Richmond. Note to self ... go to Richmond. I'm sure there is heaps of great HDR material, as you have just demonstrated. Cheers John D3, D300, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.4, 80-400VR, 18-200VR, 105/2.8 VR macro, Sigma 150/2.8 macro

Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistI like what has been achieved, and a good subject for the treatment......... but not a big fan of the over saturated blue
this image would look good printed on canvas...... Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing

Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistGreat shot and edit... Can easily imagine it as a canvas print decorating a wall!!
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistHi Steve,
I usually despise HDR as when it is done incorrectly (more often then not) it has a cartoon comic look. But this is outstanding and a very good example of how HDR should look! Also like the impressionist version, and would happily hang that on my wall. Nicely done mate. cheers -Mark http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistLOVE the impressionist!
I thought the first one was pretty darn good 'til I scrolled down. Thanks heaps for sharing these ones! I'll try to be a bit nicer, if you try to be a bit smarter.
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistGreat use of filters. Loving the colours!
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistThanks for the nice comments everyone.
My intention when I post an image is to show what I have been experimenting with, but it's always nice to get a good critique for one's ego now and then. Steve.

Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistI like the image a lot, but not fussed on the fisheye inward tilt on the building.
I was going to take some photos early last month when I stayed in Richmond, but after the wedding on Sat night I had no free card space - but I didn't miss any pics either.......
Tasmanian's don't travel well A journey that distance would require an overnight stay Old D200+extras
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and ImpressionistDon't rush me, I'll get down to Richmond one day soon. It's a 40 minute drive so I'll have to take a cut lunch and other provisions.
Besides, I don't have any free time in my weekend calendar until mid May. Too many photographic engagements. Cheers John D3, D300, 14-24/2.8, 24-70/2.8, 85/1.4, 80-400VR, 18-200VR, 105/2.8 VR macro, Sigma 150/2.8 macro

Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and Impressionistgreat shot, and i think if you hadn't of said it was hdr no-one would have known because the colours just look very saturated. velvia style saturated.

www.colberne.com.au I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"
Re: Richmond Bridge - Tasmania - HDR and Impressionist
Interesting you should mention Velvia as I did shoot a few of some Velvia with my F5 as well but I think this one looks nicer. Steve.
