open both images, lift the foreground onto the background while holding down the shift key for alignment, add layer mask, paint sky to show sky image, flatten, levels and curves. sharpen........ simple.......

Oh yeah, nice work lads :) Two very different styles!

Liking the contrast/colour in BP's, and the b&w tones in DF's are pretty sweet indeed. The vignette look suits very well. No idea how to merge layers though, bit much for simple old me..

Great to see more variations :) So many different paths can be taken with this pic, just depends on what you like! I think blacknstormy has given me a new fave with those deep blues

These were the original ones I came up with.

First is standard with very little PP, second is a fake HDR from the 1 RAW file:

I think it would be interesting for everyone to share how they did their different shots. There's always so many ways to do different things, even the B&W stuff.

Hey :) I shouldn't be allowed to pp photos - cos I just play, and keep playing until I get something that I like :? just went back and checked my raw conversion settings - that's where I picked up the deeper blues - white balance of cloudy, set to exposure -1.15, shadow 5, brightness +50, contrast +25 and saturation +58. then
from memory, sharpen, adjusted levels, did quite a bit of dodging (particularly the rocks, jetty and wall on the island) and burning of the clouds and sea, increased saturation even more, did a draganiser layer (set to around 40% opacity), and did an artistic paint daub layer set at around 20% at brush size and sharpness of 1.
Told you I shouldn't be allowed to play :( LOL

But I can't decide what I prefer with this shot; colour or b&w!

Eeeek. Looking at it now it's way over the top. The things you do with too many beers and a slow Friday night. :)
