Tunnel vision....Here's one of the latest with some previous clients... it's a good example why 'on selling' is worth it... if they are happy, they will come back.
Here's my own critique: 1. composition is okay... it leads to the couple, however there is too much tunnel on the right and i would have liked to have seen more of the males face. 2. the background spoils the shot as it is so overexposed. 3. technically the shot is okay... it's sharp and the dof is almost spot on. i think the black & white with a slight blue tint works okay with this shot. 4. the photo itself doesn't really tell a story, it's just another 'snap'. your comments and critique welcome.... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
Mark - the overexposed sky IMO is not a problem. The only thing that I might have done is move around a bit more to the left thereby eliminating the right hand tunnel - glad they came back well done

exactly... it was one of those shoots where it went for quite some time and many different things were done.... i kicked myself when i transferred this raw as there was so much potential.... they ended up with a handful of good shots, and they like this shot... but it's still one of those things were you kick yourself..

Personally, I love it as it is... but I can understand why it's probably one of those 'if only' photos for you...
Cheers, John

I'm glad you like the shot John... thanks...

Xerubus, I agree the overexposed section on the left imho isn't a problem as the image is black and white. Maybe if we saw the color version it might be a different story. However the really low detail, light section provides a nice contrast to the black and white skintones. Also the girls hair that comes out dark grey in this shot contrasts well to the overexposed background. I think if it was anything other then whitish it wouldn't work.
I agree though that the males face would of been nicer if it was more in view. However I wouldn't of removed more of the tunnel or whatever the object is that is obscuring the males face. I would have just maybe got the subjects to shift to the left more. I think if you adjusted your angle you'd lose the curves of the tunnel and it would of taken up less of the shot. Which would of most likely imho, lost the effect that it has. edit: I don't think they would of had to move that much. Just enough to see half an ear or a whole ear. Seeing his whole head might of removed the ?playfulness? of this shot.
another great creative shot Mark. Your work is very refreshing.
You are certainly on a winner getting the same couple come back - in such a short period too - brilliant. I too, don't mind the blown highlight. As Kipper has said it contrasts nicely to make the falling hair part of the feature. I also don't mind where his face is at, perhaps it could have came out a tad more but too much would have taken away from the feel of the image. I am a bit distracted by what ever seems to lead from her shoulder to the bottom of the image. not sure whether it is something she is wearing or a pole or tree in the background? Craig
thankyou for the feedback guys... much appreciated...
Craig... I was tempted to clone out the piece of clothing that is dangling down... cheers http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
