Printing photo transparencies to display on a light box

Postby Willy wombat on Thu Mar 06, 2008 1:44 pm

Ok so a friend of mine is looking to get one of my shots printed for his shop to be displayed on a light box. Im interested to know who I would need to go to, to do the printing for something like this. Is it a just printing thing or do you have to set up the files specially? How do i need to set up my file? Also im interested to know the approx cost for a coupole of A3 sized prints. Is it expensive?

Anyone got expereience with this sort of display?

Cheers
Steve

display transparencies is the product...... try one of the Pro come commercial labs in melbourne....... I know that Vision Graphics in Sydney do them........ and the item is not cheap, but can be done to very large sizes........

In Sydney The company is flash photobition. I believe they are in the Camperdown area. Most lightbox stuff these days is just done on paper as they are not up for a real long time. This pretty much seems the norm. Duratrans which is the proper light box material I believe is done on a lamda machine and does cost quite a bit.

Hope this is of help

You might want to consider contacting a local signwriter with a solvent based digital printer (Soljet is popular brand of machine) they could print your file at whatever size you need onto clear film or even pearl polypropylene which should cost considerably less than using a photo lab.

I can organise polypropylene printing here locally for you but it may be better to keep contol of the project yourself using a local supplier.

Ask to see samples of their work and ask if they will print a test stip for you (generally at no cost).
All I know, is that I don't know enough.....

I did the work for restaurant that required these to be mounted on lightboxes, I went for Pixel Perfect because I had some batches of photo works to be printed out as well by that time.

It ain't cheap printing them in pieces and especially mounting them. I came up with something as printing them up in large sizes with a photoshop template set and it mounts on the big (1.2 x 3m) lightbox pretty well.
