Woohoo!

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Excuse me for blowing my own trumpet but ...

There is a local community festival called Weerama

They have a photographic competition of things taken in the council area of Wyndham (VIC) in the last 12 months. I found out about this competition 2 days before the entries were due in, and had decided to submit my Cliffs at Werribee river.

I spoke to the organiser on the day before entries were due, and she mentioned I should look around in my collection for anything else I could submit, as they only had a few entries.

I looked in my processed pile, and then looked in my "reject" pile. I picked this photo out, played with the contrast and curves and had it printed, and put it in a frame I had at home.

I found out last night that I won the Open Competition with the Sunset at Werribee South (and won $100 cash, + my photo printed on canvas at 30"x20" + $400 worth of vouchers from Teds)

Woohoo!!

The cliffs one is spectacular. It uses that nice warm light perfectly. Great Job. I think i would love to see that one blown up, as apposed to the second one.

Wow...I love the first one for it's tones as well as the reflection. On top of that, the composition too! In fact, everything is it. Hmmm.....I'm too hyper I guess!!!

A job well done! Congrats on the win....

#1 is magic Russell and congratulations on your win :) In a perfect world how good would that first one be if you could accidentally pull out that bush in the bottom of the frame stopping that beautiful reflection of the cliff and its trees. Perhaps even moving a little to the left if possible. Gorgeous colours an scene all the same
cheers
