Sigma 28-70 f2.8

Simple, quick question - is this lens better/a good replacement for Nikkor 18-55 kit lens.

TIA

Yes it should be.

I was seriously considering either it or the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 (which has a downside of a larger 82mm front thread, so filter are more expensive again) when I was lucky enough to get a Nikkor 28-70 f2.8 2ndhand.

Another lens spoken well of is the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 which I think a few have?

I've got one, it lives on one of my bodies, Super sharp, even wide open. Fast focus, even in lower light. All in all I recommend it.

Thanks for the opinions - one on ebay for sale at a reasonable price and just wanted to check it out before jumping in and buying it.
