Al,

It's been less than 300 here for about a month, and currently sits at PP2038.

The d-d philosophy seems to be:

If stock is scarce elsewhere - charge like a wounded bull, people will buy from them if they want it

If stock is plentiful elsewhere - drop the price, people keep buying from them

Fair enough - it's just smart business sense.

I will tend to buy from them if it's close enough to the HKG price so I can just walk across from my work and pick it up myself. If it is in the early stages of release, I will buy from somewhere else if it's significantly cheaper.

I would always be cautious of an entity prefacing itself as “FA”

Er, maybe ...

They're charging $40 for pickup ???

Why?

If you read their pickup options, it seems to me that they're looking to do something that might not be within the terms of a proper eBay transaction.

P&P does not come within the term of business set out by Ebay. They have actually stated that contact with them prior to purchase can reduce the $40 charge to zero.

A classic example of P&P manipulation on Ebay happens when someone has an item for sale at $0.99 and the postage is $75.00. Ebay does not charge a commission on postage, in fact it would be impossible for them to monitor P&P as it includes far too many variables.

I don't suppose anyone could point me to site where the D300 body is being sold ~ $1500 incl. postage? I've been following the eBay sales for a month now and the cheapest I've seen was just under $1450 (incl. postage). Only when I come to bid, it always goes for more... crazy eBay snipers!

Pay attention to the currency ... when you're seeing prices like that, there's one of two things coming into play: it's either a scam, or you're looking at US$.

In Oz, the cheapest prices will be either here (for members - read the FAQ, also now known as the FIQ), or directly from HK Supplies (eBay) or through DD.

And please, could you put a meaningful location into your profile? Please refer to the FIQ and portal page fpr a description of "meaningful".

Hi Gary, yeah they're listed in USD, but with the current exchange rate being basically 1:1 I use AUD and USD interchangeably hehe

I'm familiar with HK Supplies, poon does have competatite prices up on his website. I guess I'd better keep posting to get access to the members price list. Sorry, what's DD?

I'll update my profile now, cheers :D

I would suggest that this intention may not be looked upon kindly by the powers that be here. The number of posts is not just a numerical exercise!

Sorry, what's DD?

Ah yes, I best clarify I'm not just posting for that reason hehe. This is the only Australian based DSLR forum I was recommended to by friends, I'm here for the 'community' and to hopefully improve my photography :D
