Yet another Gary and Poon plugHiya,
Just a quick note to say how pleased I am with the process, communication and handling of my purchase through Gary and Poon. I didnt buy anything huge, just a Wireless remote control for my camera and I am VERY impressed with the communication and level of professionalism even for this small purchase. Thank you very much Gary and Poon! Cheers Mak Canonian

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugcan i ask a noobie question - do Gary and Poon have a website?
Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugHi Brentsky,
Welcome. To answer your question, Yes, Gary is the Site Admin for DSLusers and offers member of this forum the ability to purchase gear through this website from Poon who has an ebay website at special member only prices. Inorder to purchase gear through Gary you need to fulfil certain criteria like a minimum number of post (50 from memory) and post a few images. Details of this are listed in the FAQ sections. Cheers Mak Canonian

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugWhat's the exact name of Poon's ebay store? I did a search on ebay but can't seem to find HK Supplies.
Thanks.

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plug
Hi Digitor A belated thank you. cheers
Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugWhile we're giving Gary and Poon plugs, I thought I'd add my thanks too.
I've just had my second experience with the GS/HKS team and I've now got a D300 only centimetres from me. Apart from an Australia day special @ DD Photographics that I found out too late about (D300 - $2,000) I got the camera for significantly less than any other prices I could find. This time I found the delivery time a little slow, just over 2 weeks from ordering to delivery, but I am old enough to remember the time when mail order stuff used to regularly take more than a month. So, whilst at the time a fortnight can seem like a long long time, after the event, it's much easier too see that 2 weeks is actually a very acceptable time lag for all the steps and processes involved. Perhaps I was spoiled when my first experience took half that time? Anyway, the battery is almost charged, time for "the first" photo, or do I have a bundle of settings to navigate first? Once again, thanks to all involved in getting my new toy here. Bob in Bull Creek
Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugJust out of interest, did you have any customs duty or gst to pay? What did the whole thing cost you in the end ?

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugYou should always be prepared to pay GST on items imported from overseas. Poon's products are no different in this regard.
Customs don't normally bother on items below A$1000. TFF (Trevor)

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugEvery time I have dealt through this forum, service has been very prompt and efficient. It certainly is well run.

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plug
Please read the FAQ. It seems that I can's say this enough. Please read the FAQ. Also please note the section in there regarding putting a meaningful location into your profile. What it costs in the end, without knowledge of what one is buying, seems a somewhat pointless question, doesn't it? A battery might cost PP30, but a camera body might cost PP6K. g.

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugyeah sorry i think I have the location right now, although I thought that last night to ! lol
I suppose I was wondering if this guy was lucky in dodging fee's, as he was talking about the d300, which I would like to buy (permission required of course!!) the total cost would give me some ammunition (hopefully) 1 shot out of focus is a mistake, 10 shots out of focus is an experiment,

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugThere is lots about the "fees" in a couple of the threads and the FAQ.
I dont know of anyone that has been hit with fees thru Poon or this forum. Myself, over 20k of gear thru HK now and never once been hit with fees or GST or duty or blah blah... D3 | D700 | D300 x 2 | D200 X 2| D70s| 300 2.8VR| 70-200, 2.8VR| 28-70, 2.8|24-70 2.8 | 14-24 2.8 | 50-500| 50, 1.4| 18-200VR| 10.5 Fishy | Batt Grips| SB800 x2 | SB900 |Pocketwizards | Manfrotto's blah blah.
Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plug
OK ... Dodging fees? No way could nor would we ever endorse such a course of action. As per our FAQ (you've read it by now, right?) we basically insist that you make a provision for the imposition of GST etc. It's a charge over which we have no control, and it's the law. That said, under the current arrangements we have in place with HKS, I have yet to see any impost of any such charges. Team Piggy has given you an insight into his personal transaction history, and I can tell you that over the last few months we've seen a couple of D3s (PP6K) and more than a dozen D300s come in. Add to that some decent glass, including one lens costing over PP10K. The current cost of a D300, landed on your doorstep and through our facilities, is just a nudge and a wink over PP2K. g.

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugDear Gary, or other PPITK (people in the know)...
Forgive my ignorance as I've been OOTLFFA (out of the loop for @#$%^& ages) but what does the acronym PP stand for (as in PP2K)? Have mouse, will travel
Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugOne of Gary's little puns: Pacific Peso, as in Australian Dollar. The dollar is probably a bit stronger now than when this started.
So, PP2k =A$2000. TFF (Trevor)

Re: Yet another Gary and Poon plugThanks Trevor. I gathered it referred to the AUD and was certain Gary had a great alternative for it!
