Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Firstly I am, of course, completely stoked to be awarded this prize. I really didn't expect it and it's a real achievement given the company in which this was entered. This is really the first time any shot of mine has been recognised so it is very exciting! Thank you to the judges and organisers for their efforts, I know a lot of thought goes into these challenges. Also thanks to those who donated prizes.
Congrats to the other winners and everyone who enters. I am always impressed with the quality of images these challenges attract. Like others have said I would encourage more people to give it a go. The process from idea to photograph is a lot of fun when you have the time and focus like in these challenges and you just never know how you'll go! Lastly, thanks to the subject of the shot and her boyfriend (my best mate). She was very patient with me messing around with lights and backgrounds and had some good inputs during the shoot - and he was totally cool about the whole thing. Top friends the pair of them!
Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!
I would like to add a note to Dawsey’s post. Unlike the previous method of voting, every other photo entered may now be classed as coming 4th. Human nature determines that no one likes coming last, even under the dictate of doing better next time. The themes are chosen to show photographic skill but they are also chosen to show how any one person can interpret the theme. In judging any challenge my first impression is the interpretation and then the skills. Dawesy gave us all a classic (even classical) shot that showed excellent use of DOF, composition and execution. PhilipB produced a shot that reminded me of Henry Miller and Anais Anais - soft and dreamy Surenj produced a simplistic contre jour that said everything without showing anything other than what was necessary for a very good shot. So, to enforce Dawsey’s post, I would like to see far more entries to give the judges a really hard time Chris

Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Wow, I really didn't expect my shot to be up there, thanks guys. it makes me feel better now. Looking at that shot made me think how much money was on that table and how it could be better spent on a lens

Congratulations Dawsey Mick
Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Three very good images there. Congratulations.
I look forward to one day, when I'm grown up, getting off my fat a*** and entering one of these challenges myself. Coming last would have to be more of an achievement than not entering.
Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!congrats to those who entered and especially to those who topped the list.
i did try and get something but it just didn't turn out how i wanted and because i left it until the last day i didn't have time to think up something else Shane

Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Congrats to all the place getters...I for one had a heap of fun trying to get the shot out.
Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Congrats to Dawesy and PhilipB, Nice execution from concept to image.
My attempt was complicated by the fact that the subject wanted to remain annonymous! It was fun thinking this much about an image. Thanks to MHD and the judges for organising this..
Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Congratulations to Dawesy, Phillpb and Surenj. Well done to everyone who entered.

If you’re alone with your friend in the woods and a tiger’s chasing you, you don’t have to be faster than the tiger, you have to be faster than your friend.
Re: Challenge 19 - The Winners!Congratulations to the winners
Same happened to me. I entered what I felt best answered the challenge that I had done to date, even though I didn't really feel it was right. I'm glad the judges agreed. I was on my second concept, and it wasn't working either, but a deadline is a deadline.
Can't agree more That said I probably won't enter the next challenge. I don't meet the prerequisites. Greg
